Check out the sweet door I just picked up.

I was at HD today to get more studs and I was just browsing at the doors and found this baby. It was regularly $279 marked down to $69.50! I just started framing a few days ago, but couldn't pass it up.
It is 1 3/4" thick and weighs a ton. They had one left, so if anyone is in the Milwaukee/Chicago area go get it.

Can you buy the other one and have a double door (airlock) system? Or did we talk about that already??

No, we didn't talk about that. I haven't really looked into that. I can already see my wife's face when I mention it.

Her face when you mention it will be nothing compared to your face when she tells you to turn it way down...

I did a search but couldn't find any threads about the "airlock" double doors. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

If I just did the single door, it shouldn't be too bad right? The door definitely has a lot of mass at 36" wide x 1¾" thick and weight 8000lbs*

*OK, not quite but it is pretty ridiculous. It was meant to be an external entrance door.

It's funny, all the time I spent researching sound proofing and reading here...I convince myself it's for a higher cause.

Really, it's so I can sit in my theater and giggle while I give myself hearing damage.

I hate this site....

it makes me spend money on things I never would have thought about prior to coming on here. I just sent my dad out with his truck to pick up the other door. Can't go wrong for $70!

So we picked up the other door last night, so now I have two of em. I'm not sure if I will do a double (airlock) door, or use if for the other entry way into the utility room.

Well, I found a few two of the local Home Depots on clearance. However, they were only marked down to $209 each here I'll probably call back in another week or two and see if they've gone down.

Here's the price ticket, print it out and bring it in. Who knows, maybe they're match it.

Worth a try. Thanks!

I've saw the exact same door today also (saw it 3 weeks ago also but didn't pay much attention). The HD here wants $209 (marked down from $279) as well. Thanks for the picture of the pricetag. I'll give it a shot too.

I took pictures of the price tag and door to HD today and tried to see if they would price-match another HD. They said that since it's a clearance item, they wouldn't. It was put on put on clearance for $209 on Jan 13. They said to check back on Feb 14- that's when the next mark-down would be. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I had a similar experience. However, the person I talked to said that his manager probably would have matched it if the clearance tag shown in the photo hadn't expired (in the lower left corner, it has an expiration date of 1/21/08). He also said to give him a call next week and he could ask again.

That's weird about the expiration date, because I bought them on 1/23/09.

Yeah, I think it was a misprint. On the top right, the 12/09 is supposed to be the print date (next December)!
