I agree. There is no way the '09 has a 50% better picture than the PS3. Many of these reviews are so vague and embellished they are unrealiable.

This is not a professional review it is a user opinion.

But it is OK to post user opinion. Please AVS members don’t be too harsh because people will be shine to post their personal review...

Can this question be asked on AVS ???

Where are Members ordering their units and at what Price ????????

I ask this because I wonder if they are sold for the Retail price of $2,200.00.

Also, for the non pros here, should this be installed and set up by a Dealer in a Dedicated HT ???

If that is not allowed here, no big deal.

Just a couple of simple questions.

Thank you Sir

Nor do I have anything like that as far as setting it up correctly.

It reads like this should be set up by a Dealer with the Proper equipment then.

Something to think about before I jump the gun and buy out of State.

Thanks for the Reply.

You also cant believe all professional reviews.......

I believe that the picture quality is 50 percent better. Look at the build quality of the PS3 compared to the 09FD. Qedo processing , 16 bit 4:4:4 bit depth , audiophile audio components , etc.... This thing is build pretty well.

We are not gonna see deep color for along time so why not use some more processing to make bluray even better!! We do it for DVDs and some players make DVDs look 50 percent or more better.

Ya think? Somehow, according to one review here, the 09 has figured a way to change those 0's and 1's and make them 50% better 0's and 1's. I kind of give up.

I'm sure that Robert @ Value Electronics can give you a great price.
Yes, he can. Even I'm thinking about one of these 09 units, though I'd rather give them some more time on the street before diving in.

I agree , the oppo 983 is equal in quality with the first DVD player that came out years ago. no difference just 1's and 0's

If someone has a vizio display with the 09 they probably wouldnt see a difference. I bet this 09 truely shows what a Kuro can do since the Kuro can show alot more shades of grey compared to not so good displays.

Does your Kuro report 48bit or 36bit. When viewing a BD?

Though 50% (better pic Q than the PS3) may be a stretch, I will say it is significant enough to notice right away. Actually it was more than slight with every player I compared it to. The closest were of course the other members of the big 3. That difference came after tweaking and careful calibration.

The only thing here is that, and I can't speak for Ken but I am trying to rationalize why I should wait and see. The last Pioneer BD players so far have never lived up to all the hype. And I would feel stupid if I made the same mistake twice. On the other hand I hate to think I am missing out on something that is very good.

Now I get the LOL..........

Man, I am glad You dropped back by AVS and made this Post.

I personally don't have that kind of Dollars to throw around these days.

So, I have to be Cautious before I just jump up and Dump $$$$$$$$$$$

I'm (Not) saying that anyone here would say this New 09FD is like the Greatest piece of Gear on this Planet. But, how many people spend this amount of money and then get on a Forum and say they made a (Mistake).

I did say (I'm Not Saying) in the above comment.

Just mentioning it, that is all.

No, smart crack intended but I have seen many friends over the Yrs. say things to others knowing they were (Not Exactly Telling The Complete Truth) on a subject.

Hopefully, that is NOT the case here on AVS and Especially with the Expertise some Members have here on High-End-Gear.

I have a Kuro Signature Elite Pro 141FD and the 09FD is in transit. The Pioneer DV 59AVi looks pretty good on the 141FD upscaling DVDs to 720p and I expect more from the 09FD with native 1080p. I hope there is a very positive synergistic pairing between these 2 recent Pioneer units. If not, I am going to be bummed !!!

Matter of fact I E-Mailed Pioneer and asked if they would except my BD-51 and BD-95 in trade. And also pointed out the unfulfilled promise's after I have owned the BD-51 for 6 months. Also the fact that I can't use or sell my BD-95 because of hardware malfunction. And also given the fact that I would have to pay to send my BD-95 back for repairs.

However on the bright side because of "build quality" the BD-51 and BD-95 work well as door stops.

thats a pity to hear. I was pretty happy with my pio LX70a (95HD). the only grumbles I had was its speed in powering up, loading discs and sluggishness during navigating discs. Pio service I found without reproach in keeping up the updates. But yeah was a little dissapointing to see the 05/51 not really being that much of an advance on this player and a backward step in build and fit and finish. For that reason I was very happy to see sony release the 5000es !

reading joe's and other 09 owners posts it fortunately looks to be in another league to the lower rung pios. have always had a soft spot for pios and hope they pass down some of the goodness of hte 09 and take further for later release players if nothing else to raise the bar for other BD player makers

Did you get to see any video played using the BD-09.
If so , what is your take on the PQ and what display were they using.

What display was Chris using to demo the 48 bit.
And what is your take on PQ.

Thanks guys.

To:joerod or any. I have a BDP-95FD running 1 HDMI to my SC-09TX reciever,I'am running 10.1 channel to 5 speakers all Ch Bi-Amp.All my friends say the SQ is the best.PQ from my 95 to my reciever to my samsung LCD LN-S4095D 1080P is very good, but not the best, all professionally calibrated.Do you think the BDP-09FD would match up to the SC-09TX reciever and would the SQ & PQ be beter. To:sillysally,I'am having good luck with my Pioneer Elite BDP-95FD and very happy with PQ &SQ,but if I can get better PQ & SQ out of the BDP-09FD I'am going for it. To: tigerhonaker, I think LOL stand for laughing out loud

exactly , it sucks that alot of people we burned by pioneer getting the last pioneer bluray players , but those players we really no step up from a PS3. Thats why i never went that route.

Like you said it would suck if you did miss out on something very good. Especially when you own a kuro yourself.

I have the 95FD as well, and it produces excellent output. I think the most noticeable upgrade you could do would be swapping out the Samsung LCD for a Pioneer plasma.

Yes, the 09FD will produce a superior image to the 95 player. Also, the sound will noticeably be better to.

I never claimed to be a professional...take my review for what it is worth... but I am extremely satisfied with my purchase...and so is my wife which is more important! lol

how so ? for audio. the pio 95HD bitstreamed every and any format on blu-ray disc absolutely perfectly for the year I owned it, how could the 09 bitstream any differently ? I am very curious to hear

I am not just talking about Bitstreaming. Besides, even if you are only using HDMI having the separate connection could produce better sound Q. I think that is system dependent. The 09FD is superior to the 95 in nearly every aspect.
