There should be a similar model or the previous model where the codes are virtually identical. Try that instead of the learning process.

You did note state the devices involved with this Activity, but you likely have a DVD player with HDMI link option set which will turn on or activate other devices. Hunt for that.

I have an elite screen that works fine with my 1100. Did you install the IR dongle on the screen? Is it visible enough so your 1100 single reaches it?? Have you trained your 1100 with the up and down codes?

I am guessing that the htpc is attached to the TV via hdmi. Look into the TV settings for something like VIERA Link control or a control that turns on hmdi attached devices, and turn it off.

my htpc computer outputs video and audio hdmi into my onkyo txsr 803 reciever , then my reciever goes to my samsung LN40B540 via hdmi as well

computer ->reciever -> tv all hdmi

Controls whether or not to send a 'Play' command whenever you start the Activity.
just found this option and disabled it on my htpc device , but no luck
media center is still opening on me

Just found the problem seems that my htpc computer was asking what input it should be on ., i had to disable this ., fix listed belo0w incase amnyone else runs into this problem thanks for all the help verry ,much appreciated !

Set the input command for the device to "none" and no command will be sent

Devices>Your Device>Settings> Adjust Inputs

.Also set the input delay for the device to 0ms then no tim will be wasted on this action.

Devices>Your Device>Settings> Adjust Delays

Yes, I've had the ir dongle installed for years as I was controlling it with my other ir remote.
I've also tried to "teach" the 1100 the commands from both the original elite screen remote and my previous urc remote. Nothing seems to work yet. Did you have to "teach" your 1100 or were you able to get it working with the preinstalled codes? Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi there,

I tried to learn a few more commands for my Denon receiver and initially I could not rename the new command (for some unknown reason, on my Mac), so I ended up with a command named "MyNewCommand" in the list of commands, which is so annoying. I would like to get rid of this entry but so far I could not figure out how to delete this command. Would someone please help? Thanks.

You cannot delete or rename the command. If it bothers you too much you will have to delete the device, add it back, and then learn the new command with the appropriate name. Yes, this sucks.

Yikes! This sucks indeed. Not because of deleting and adding the device (receiver), but because I'd have to reprogram all activities again, since the receiver is part of each and every activity. Or, would the software remember the settings?...

For the latter situation a stick on blaster may be better.

it should not matter whether or not the components r behind a wall or glass...set ur remote to send RF signals to ALL components and the IR signals will be "eliminated"....logitech recommend all devices be set to RF when using the extender so devices dont get confused.

Ok, after working with this remote for a few days I havent found an answer to this so I'll put it here. In my setup I have 2 outputs. (TV & Projector) I have an activity for watch "big screen tv". (Projector+Dish+elite screen). Now when I leave that activity and go to watch "small screen tv" (plasma+dish) the 1100should turn off the Projector and hopefully put the elite screen up? Or does that need to be programmed as another option in setup?

sweet thank you so much , tried the contact on the page there but my system was acting up on my at the time , really appreciate it !

Yes GATER, going from one activity to the next as you describe should perform those function. If this is not happening you need to be certain that the those devices that need to be set to a power off state are indicated to be turned off when not being used or exiting the activity they are used in.

Also be certain that the proper commands are in place for each device. Go thru each device's set up wizard and be certain the right commands are in place to perform correct power off commands. i.e. with some projectors you have to hit power toggle and then ok to confirm, so the 2 steps need to be listed as the power off command. With the screen be sure that the screen up is set as the power off command.
I have 3 harmony's with multiple displays on each and they work as described when setup correctly. Good luck.

Thanks oman321. I have an older elite screen and there is not on/off just raise and lower screen. I still trying to get the 1100 to operate the screen as it is. The 1100 is telling me its learning the ir signals from the original elite screen remote, but the 1100 does not seem to work the screen yet. Thats another problem that I should address first. My concern after that is fixed is going from an "activity" where I'm wathcing "big screen movie" (projector+elite screen+bluray) to another "activity" watching "big screen tv" (projector +elite screen+dish) the only thing that should change is the receiver switching inputs. However, going from "big screen tv" to "small screen tv" (dish+plasma) the 1100 in theory should shut off the projector and raise the screen. I'm wondering if "raising the screen" after leaving an activty needs to be added to the "when leaving this activity" portion of the setup or if it will raise it as part of the shutdown process? confusing I know... I'll have to do some serious trial and error!!

i dont have experience with projectors but if im not mistaken, the movement of the screen is independent from the projector turning on and off...if this is the case, then yes u need to add the "raise the screen" command to the power off process.
The screen is typically independent unless it is connected to the projector via a 12 volt trigger which will cause the screen to raise or lower depending on what is happening.

Gater, yes you need to get the 1100 to operate the screen first of all. Try to see if you can get the up and down commands to work, if you have to add a generic device and teach the commands to that. I have had an instance where a command(s) wouldn't work in a device classified as a switcher. I got it to work when I taught the commands to a new device type, an amp.

I would say that you don't necessarily want to add the command at the end of an activity. Basically what you need to do is have 2 commands, Power On Command should be screen down and Power Off should be screen up. If you get the 1100 to work with your screen, then you go thru the device wizard and assign those commands as on and off. When you then setup the activities smart state will know "on" is screen down and "off" is screen up.

If you add the screen up command to the end of an activity it will bring the screen up even when your switching to an activity which requires the screen.

Ok, yea, that does make sense. Thanks Oman. I'm going to work on getting the 1100 to "learn" the screen up/down command. I'll try the "power on/off" first, then try the customize, learn new command and rename in the setup.

Finally got an 1100 along with the PS3 adapter. I'm loving it so far. Setup was easy and painless. I have a few questions though:

-Is there a way to program it so that when I switch activities it powers off the devices I was previously using. For example, if I'm watching a BluRay on my PS3 and decide to change activities and watch TV...is there a way to make it automatically turn off the PS3 when it switches out of that activity?

-Is there a way to upload custom buttons? I was setting up the PS3 commands and wanted to put the "PS" button on the left sidebar. When I tried to use an image for the button it would only let me use Logitech's preloaded button icons. I couldn't "browse" my computer for a picture to use I can with favorite channel icons.

-I want to add a dimmer switch to the mix. I have a dimmer switch currently but it's IR controlled. It's a 3 way system that has another switch outside of the room. What is the best Lutron Maestro switch for me. Do I have to get one the includes the remote? It would be nice to get just the switch since I'll be controlling it with the 1100.

I know some, if not all of these questions have probably been answered in this thread. I got through about 10 pages worth and decided to just post so thank you in advance to those that have probably already answered these questions.

Like I said before, so far I love the remote. Only gripes I have are not being able to use it while it's in the charging dock without unplugging the power supply and not being able to use custom images for the activity icons.

1) it should automatically do that unless you have set it to leave the devices on.

2) you cant use custom icons. For my "ps" button I used the black circle icon and put "PS" as the text - so it kind of looks nothing like the PS button - but I like it.

3) if it is an IR dimmer switch then try adding it to the remote - if it already has te codes you will be good to go. If you don't have the codes but have the remote - just have the remote learn the commands to control it from the remote that came with the lights.

I am trying to figure a way to switch between the activities without running the macro again. For example, I turn on the main tv, then turn on the bar tv. How do I get back to the main tv activity without the macro. Pressing activity again will get me back to the latest activity, but what if I want to change the channel on the main tv? Does pressing activity again toggle through the running activities? Thanks for the help.
While you can have multiple displays in an activity, you can only assign control of one of the tvs if you are changing the channel on a specific tv.

I network my cable box to 4 displays so it doesn't matter which activity I'm in, whether it's multiple displays or not the cable box does the channel changes so it doesn't matter. Now if you are using the tv tuners to do the channel changes it gets a little trickier.

You can either have one activity for the main tv which includes turning on the bar tv and then go to devices and select the bar tv and control it that way. This will still keep you in the original activity. Either hit the back arrow a couple of times or activities button twice to get back to where you were.

The other option is to setup 2 activities, which includes all of the same equipment. In the 1st activity you setup the main tv to be controlled, in the second activity you setup the bar tv to be controlled. When you switch between activities your equipment should not be affected even though it may appear to be resending the commands when switching between the 2. Smart state should realize all of the same equipment is already on.

Hope this helps to sort it out, good luck.

Thanks lalawyer. My elite screen is over 7 years old, it was one of the first electric screens Elite started selling. I was able to teach my old urc remote the ir command using the Elite screen remote, but I just cant seem to get the 1100 to learn the commands up and down, nor does the preinstalled codes work for up and down. I cant think of what I am missing?
