Just got my 1100 yesterday, was a little dissapointed by the setup (its my first Harmony), despite adding three DVD players (Denon 2910, Samsung BDP3600 and Tosh HDA3) it told me none of my devices play video in the PC software when I tried to setup a Watch DVD Activity, do I have to use the Utility activity ? It did recognise the Denon as a CD player however!

try again...add activity, manual, watch dvd, etc....

the key is the second step where you select manual...right now there is massive errors in the logic of the 'automatic' activity setup...logitech is working on cleaning it up...

LOTS of users get messages about no devices being able to change channels when trying to setup activities...using the manual method works just fine...and honestly, it's still a guided wizard, it just asks a few questions

Thanks, I've set a lot up using manual and utility, still not able to use Watch DVD. Its my first remote with an RF extender and I'm loving operating the theater from anywhere, no more pointing remotes behind me

Is there any way to set up the slide show as a screen saver ?

That would be great but I am still waiting for the ability to change the "generic" icon in the activity section to look like a device icon...

Hi there,

somebody mentioned in the thread that the 1000 made funny noises while being charged.

The 1100 does the same - a rather nasty high pitched tone when the battery is almost full. However I am still happy with it.

jens...I would contact logitech about the noise while charging...we never saw that during beta testing for the 1100

as far as the slide show as a screen saver...um...have you even noticed that there is no slide show on the 1100 if your firmware is up to date?...that feature, which was only when it was placed on the charging cradle, was removed a while ago

unfortunate, can only hope this will return I mean it seems trivial right ?

my next task will be to add Watch TV as an activity, I saw a bunch of cool looking channel icons at http://www.iconharmony.com/icons/ not sure exactly how I import these yet

I have gotten used to unplugging the Dock and leaving the remote in it. If I sit in a different seat I take it with me. I like having the 1100 in its Dock when I use it. Just seems easier. Just got to make sure I remember to plug it back in when finished...

That's the biggest minus I have for the Harmony 1100, the support - or lack thereof. Calling the first tier support is like giving yourself a root canal, then, they won't connect you directly to the guys who actually know what they're doing - it's a call you back later sometime in the next 24 hours.

Oh, and the anemic support window for the product is sorry, too. No options for extended support or for premium options (which many of my clients would gladly pay). Too bad, the remote had a lot of promise, but a few snags can bring the whole carnival down.

They need to reconsider that limited support window. That would be frustrating if I had an issue later down the line...

If a component/device is listed on the logitec database, does that mean the harmony remote will have all the buttons and controls of that component?


Also, I have an Epson 6500ub projector that is not in their database for supported devices, but it says to call them. Wonder there is a workaround.

Hello,

My audio/video rack is behind our sofa (about 10 feet away). The verizon fios box and onkyo 805 remotes works fine without pointed backward. The samsung bd 2500 needs to be slightly pointed up in the air in order for it to work.

Does the harmony 1100 work fine without having to point direct at the devices?

My rack is open .

they use the custom channel logos for the favorite channels feature. you select the logo, and given the channel number you've assigned to that logo, the remote then changes to that channel

I experimented with it this afternoon. I am using RF for almost everthing except my Carada Masking System, one of my DirecTV HD DVRs and my PJ. I will say no matter where I have it set the PJ turns on. Of course that is near the center of the room on the ceiling. The other components do for the most part but it did "miss" a couple times when I pointed it the opposite direction. I don't see what the big deal is though. All you have to do is hit activity and lay the remote down in an direction and you should be fine.

As Wanne Be posted. You pick your channel icons from the link (leaving a donation is good ), then under your "Watch TV" activity you have the option to add the custom logos. When you add the number (like say 206) you hit browse then go to where you saved the channel logos at. 206 for me would be ESPN so I would put that logo in the 206 slot. It is very easy to do.

Okay just got my 1100 today so far I have setup my
Samsung Tv
Cable Box
Wdtv

I have setup the 2 activitys, 1 to watch tv & cable box and the other tv & wdtv.

Now when I click on watch Tv it gives me full control of my cable box and tv.

Now when I click on watch wd tv I have no control over any of the wd features until I go into device and click wdtv. Is there anyway to fix this??

1. what type of activity did you use to setup the wdtv?
2. I'm guessing a utility activity, which doesn't auto map any commands for you. so you can either a. create a new activity using a more appropriate type* if possible, or b. in the setup, activities tab, customize buttons for the activity in question, then you'll see several tabs....standard buttons = physical buttons on the remote, other tabs = 4 sub screens for the 1100.

* since the software recognizes the WDTV as a media center PC, you'll want to add activity, manual, show presentation, then select either view pictures or show presentation (you can rename it later), select the tv to control the video and the tv or receiver to control volume, it will include the WDTV by default because of the activity type, so hopefully that should map your commands for you much better

Actually I have the activity setup as Watch Movies; couldn't find a activity that suits the WDTV better.

I'll try the presentation activity when I get home. Thanks for the help

Okay so I tried the Presentation Activity for my WD TV and still no touchscreen keys to control the wdtv. Still have to go into device and click WDTV to control, but when I do that I can't control tv volume anymore. Any other suggestions?

Oh nevermind just figured out how to map out buttons for the activities. The whole time I was under device and mapping out buttons there. Thanks Anyways
