I have one 1100 for the livingroom and love it but would like to add one to the theater and a third in the bar if possible. I have the pj and grafik eye in the theater. Then i have avr, Dtv, bd player, and box in another room. Can i use the actual remote for the stuff in the there while also using it with the rf extender for the av rack? both at same time?

Then would like to add a third remote for the bar but don't know if can use the 1100. Will have 4 tvs, 4 Dtv boxes, and an avr i have ir wire ran to each device for irule if need to go that way.

Yes to your first question. You assign in the software which devices are controlled via RF and which are IR and they'll work together seamlessly.

If you want to use the existing 1100 with the bar equipment it seems you would be ok with the number of devices (especially if the tv's are the same brand and models), what would be difficult is assigning individual IR ports to the Dtv boxes, particularly when you have other equipment that needs IR port assignments. Port assignments are capped to 8.

quick question. would the harmony 1100 control something like this remote controlled power outlet switch? Basically, what I want to do is put accent lights behind the screen wall of my home theater to illuminate my speakers. I want to connect the spotlights up to the remote controlled switch with hopes that I can use the harmony to control them. Thanks in advance.
No it wont. You need an IR controlled outlet with line of site or an emitter extended to it from the 1100's RF extender, if you have one.

This is an IR outlet that I have read some have used with good results.

http://www.amazon.com/Infrared-Adapter-Wireless-Remote-Converter/dp/B002FJD1LY

http://www.ebay.com/itm/IR-Wireless-Remote-AC-Power-Switch-Outlet-Socket-Plug-2-/220629767518?pt=Home_Automation_Modules&hash=item335e8f155e

If you want something nicer check Smarthome for their Insteon products. You'll need this IR controller.
http://www.smarthome.com/2411R/IRLinc-Receiver-IR-to-INSTEON-Converter/p.aspx

Then you'll need one of the lamp accessories.
http://www.smarthome.com/_/Dimmers_Lighting_Appliance_Control/INSTEON/Plug_in_Screw_In_Modules/_/z/23b/1Qd/nav.aspx

Insteon is nice because it is a system that you can expand over time. You can also add a network module and control things from a network device like a smartphone or tablet.

I couldn't pass up the $7 deal on the wireless remote converter on amazon. Thanks so much for the links! I'll report back if I can get this thing rigged correctly.

So how would I get this programmed to my Harmony 1100? There is a "learn" button on the device however, I seriously doubt this device is in Harmony's database. Any help would be great!

Is anyone having trouble updating their 1100 and Wireless Extender? It seems like the Logitech server may be having extended problems.

For the past couple days there have been long delays at each stage of the process including getting to the initial Activity screen.

Just now, even with delays, I got as far as completing the update to the extender, only to have the program time out waiting for the update process to run for the 1100. When I tried to repeat the process, the update got as far as the following.

Uploading wireless extender information to web
Initializing Logitech Harmon Wireless Extender, Please wait...

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I am having the same problem. I checked the boards on Logitech's site and it is a known issue. I called and spoke with tech support who told me "we are aware that there is a problem and it will be remedied soon".........soon??? kind of vague! It's really frustrating for me because I am just setting up this remote for the first time and it is not playing nicely. mad.gif

I feel like it's been three days or so. I'm just fine tuning ours right now. But, it would have been a mess last week because I was redoing several Activities to allow for entering and controlling our new AVR's setup menus.

Who knows if they will work on it over the weekend. I'm going to postpone what I was doing until the response time is back to normal.

Thanks for letting me know that Logitech knows about it.

I've had this same exact issue for the past couple weeks. Anything specific you did to fix it or it just randomly started to work (which would be my favorite answer)?

Yes. I stayed up until around 1:00 AM PST which reduced the load on Logitech's servers. eek.gif

That's brutal but somehow I figured that was the answer heh.

looking for a little help with the 1100, I am using it to control a Sony tv, a Motorola cable box and a WD live media box, I got all the programming to work after lots of frustration in particular with the WD media box, I have programmed it to go straight to thumbnails of the MTV files on a USB drive, them my 87 yr old father just has to pick his movie, after doing all of the testing at home I packed it up and drove to my fathers house for the final hook up and wouldn't you know it would work, have the media box is turn on I have a 10 second delay while everything starts up and the wallpaper screen with enter videos shows up then I have 2 "ok" commands to get to the thumbnails, for some reason the 10 second delay never gets executed anymore and the display goes straight to the first movie thumbnail then I can see a quick flash of all thumbnails and then it wants to start playing the first movie, no matter how many times I connect the remote back to the pc and log in and check commands and update the remote it keeps doing the same thing, only with the media box, the control of the cable box for watch tv wrongs just fine, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this... Log into software

go to activities page, click "settings" on the activity you want to change.

click "change options"

Under "Play on enter" change to "Do not send play"
I have done all of that it just seems to miss the 10 second delay and sends the play command at the end have tried updating the remote several times, put delays in at different steps but it just keeps doing the same thing.

Plleeaasseee Heellppp!!
I want to set up an activity that will switch my receiver to my ipod connection and change my receiver to my zone B speakers. How do I set this activity up? Obviously, the ipod setting is the easy part but i cant figure out how to set the speaker selection. From what I can gather so far is I have to duplicate the receiver device and label it zone B which is fine but I still dont know how to get the activity to change my speaker selection to zone B.
thanks so much in advance!

Just switched from using a Harmony One to an 1100 and am having problems getting the D-pad to work from my Pioneer AVR. The activity is playing SiriusXM through the "Net" funtion of my receiver and you need to the d-pad to shift through the different stations.

There are no "Zone B" speaker outputs. Most AVR's have either "Speaker A / Speaker B" outputs or "Zone 1 / Zone 2" outputs. Can you be a little more specific about your configuration and what you want to accomplish.

From the programming software go to "Devices" tab and select "customize buttons" on your Pioneer AVR. Check the hard buttons and see if they are assigned correctly. Many AVR's in the Harmony database have "Tune up/Tune down" in the place of the direction buttons. If that is the case you can easily reassign the correct commands.

I just got the Harmony 1100 in the mail. I bought it for one reason, and one reason alone:

- I need to map a two function macro to the "play" and "pause" buttons.

I can't find the add sequence feature, or it's 1100 equivalent. Any ideas?
Logitech removed sequence capabilities from all their recent remotes including the 1100. But the raw learn trick will probably work if you only need two functions. So go to learning, custom, click raw, then capture the two commands in one learn using your original remote. It may take a few tries to get it.

I have been using a Harmony 1100 in my media room for a couple years. This week I updated my Living room setup (different part of house) and purchased another 1100 for that room. I'm having trouble understanding how in the setup software I can assign some devices/activities to the Media Room 1100 and a different set of devices/activities to the living room 1100. Both also have RF extenders. Any tips would be much appreciated.

My setups are:

Media Room:
- Epson Projector
- DirecTV settop box
- Samsung BD player
- XBox 360
- 2nd gen Apple TV
- Wii
- Pioneer SC-25

Living Room:
- Samsung LCD TV
- DirecTV settop box
- PS3
- 1st Gen Apple TV
- Pioneer VSX-60

Obviously the activity "Watch TV" will be different for both rooms.

The only thing I can think of is to install the damn software on another PC that doesn't already have my media room data filled out.

Any help would be appreciated.
All you need to do is create a different account for the new 1100. You can not have 2 remotes on one account.
"All you need to do is create a different account for the new 1100. You can not have 2 remotes on one account."

I'm seriously thinking about getting a couple of the 1100s for my new condo. The backstory:

3 bed condo that will have at least 3 TVs (Living Room, Master Bedroom, Bedroom 3) and 4 input devices (2 DirecTV, 1 WD Live, 1 Blu-ray). I'm installing an HDMI matrix switch so I can watch any input device from any TV in the house.

Here's the issue: one 1100 won't be enough, as we'll occasionally be watching separate shows in separate rooms; also, if family or friends are staying over and want to watch something in the spare bedroom, they'll need a remote. So, how do I go about setting up two 1100s?? It's my understanding that the RF to IR repeater can be paired with only one 1100. Is this correct?

If it is, then I'll need to get two of the RF to IR repeaters. If that's the case, has anyone done this? Will I be able to connect two of the IR blasters onto one input device without fear of any interference (mainly cause by blocking the port vs. intereference from another signal).

Any thoughts/suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Just ordered a 1100. Excited to find out if it works the way I want. I also have a Mac mini in my system running Sofa Control - I haven't seen anything about controlling it from Harmony 1100.
