The Harmony 1100 Owner's Thread... - Page 34

Though it's been a while, another Forum member posted (or PM'd to me) HEX codes for the Tuner presets for the Onkyo TX-SR805. I see that they are also posted here on RC Forums.

Anyway, I contacted Logitech support about adding these HEX codes to my 1100 (and One) accounts so that I could program them in. They added the HEX codes, but for some reason the Preset 1 thru Preset 9 codes do not work for me - the Onkyo does not do anything when receiving these commands. However, the AM and FM hex codes do work.

Anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong to not be able to use the directly access the tuner presets? (or possibly Logitech screwed up?) I know I could cycle thru the presets up and down one at a time, but I want to be able to go directly to "Preset X" with a corresponding button on the remote with the station name and frequency.

FWIW, I was able to do this with a One and Yamaha RX-V863.

New to the forum... but wanted to thank you guys for this great thread! I just picked up an 1100 on eBay for a great deal - and I'm loving it so far! The information in here has been very helpful.

Welcome! Though biz travel has kept me away from our 1100-controlled system, I'm still very happy with the purchase. Just need to figure out how to program the tuner presets into it...

So I just picked up a 1100 today and have it set up pretty much the way I want it. One thing I noticed that's different from the 1000 (which I used to have), is that the 1000 allowed me to program an eject function for my older DVD player (DVD-963SA) into the remote, but the 1100 doesn't seem to have this ability. It's not something that can be learned as the original remote doesn't have the capability. Is there a way to get this function back?
i have a quick question. It might have been answered in previous posts I am looking into getting the 1100. i want to know if it will be able to grow with my system? I want it to eventually allow control my lights, motorized screen, and projector?

As long as those things have IR remote control capabilities or can be controlled by something that has IR capabilities (like x10). I have mob set up to control lights (even though I don't have the switches installed yet) and a friend has his set to control his window blinds and lights.

Is the EJECT command not already in the online database? If not, you should be able to easily learn that command from your original remote. You can even overlay an "eject" icon as part of the button that you program. I'm not sure if the 1000 had this feature as I never owned that model.

Like PTA said, any IR-controlled device should work. We have the Lutron Maestro IR dimmer switch, and it works just fine via the 1100's RF mode and the RF wireless extender. FWIW, the extender and IR wall switch are located about 15 behind the couch, and it works perfectly.

Thank You for the responses! Does anyone know of more lighting options, and motorized screens i can look into?

I have no issues with my Comcast HD STB (3-digit channels only), as long as the remote has clear line-of-sight.

Have you checked the inter-key delay? Or maybe it's one of those other delay settings...
I thought I read earlier in this thread (or maybe it was another Forum) that the 1100 could not send signals if it was docked in the charging cradle. I have experienced just the opposite: RF signals being sent to the wireless extender (which controls the Lutron Maestro IR dimmer) while charging. To be fair, I have not confirmed if it will send IR signals while charging.

FWIW, I have a series of commands after exiting various activities (primarily Blu-ray and HD DVD watching) that pauses the remote for 30 seconds before sending the "Lights Off" command. Example: after pressing the 1100's "OFF" button, the remote is usually in the charging cradle before that last command is sent - and I see the lights turn off after we have left the room.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Can this be done:
I picked up a set of 6 ft long (6 1 foot tubes) Pelion LED lights with an IR remote from Costco this morning. The remote that comes with them offers control of 2 individual light sets, which is kind of cool. The remote only has one button that is "on", "off", and if you hold it down "dim".

I have taught the commands to my 1100 - but I want to know if there is a way to get the "dim" function to work. When I hold down the power command that I learned it just turns it on and off quickly. To set the interkey delay to 0 thinking that would help, but it didn't.
I taught it "dim" by holding down the power button with my hand covering the emitter, then uncovering it for a second and recovering it - just in case it sends a different command after being held down for a moment.
Is there a way to make this work, or am I better off returning these to get my $29 back, and buying some better LED lights?

My intention is to use the string of lights to illuminate a wall that will have movie posters on it - and I want to have the lights being turned off as part of my "pre-movie" setup.
You could try a raw (custom) learn for dim. In that case, don't block it at all during the process so you get the whole thing start to finish.

I was just wondering, i have had my 1100 for quite a bit now and i love it. but i was wondering, does this remote ever learn? I mean sometimes i have to hit the help because of the the devices will not turn on or got the proper setting, with my old receiver i had to hit the help each and every time to get it to the right input. it has been much better with my denon but at times i still have to hit the help.

no, the help button does not reprogram the remote in any way. if you have to constantly use the help button, then you more than likely have a timing problem and you need to adjust the delays (aka the speed settings)
This thread documents the experiences by many people over the past +18 months. Yet, there really needs to be a summary of key things to watch out for, or at least identify a known FAQ.

I had considered this remote, but honest not wishing to take the time to read +1000 posts to be able to digest and summarize the good, bad, and ugly regarding it.

You also might be getting some interference from LCD TVs, CFL lights, etc during the initial powering up commands. We occasionally have issues which I suspect are due to our Samsung LN-T4061F LCD TV giving off too much radiation/interference when it's first turned on.

Has anyone successfully included the Directv HR24-500 on their Harmony 1100. I have this set up successfully as a device on the Harmony 1100 and it sucessfully controls all functions when I try it as a device. However, when I try to add activities (watch tv, add favories, etc) in the software and update the remote I get a configuration error message that The IR sequence '.' for your Directv HR24 does not exist and problem must be fixed to update remote. IR is confirmed on Directv receiver, I have tried the learning funtion, tried a second download of Harmony software per instruction of tech support, but nothing will fix the problem. Additionally, tech support says the HR24-500 is part of their data base so I am not sure why there is a IR sequence error. This is my first universal remote so I have no idea how to fix the problem.

You can also pm or send email.

Thanks,

ahanson3

It appears the problem is using a dash or period between numbers to obtain HD stations that use a dash such as 668-1. Does the * work?

Three or four times I've had to reboot (remove and install the battery) because the touch screen stops reacting, or the remote fails to send a RF message. Does anyone know what is causing this behavior, or what it might lead to?

Each time it's happened the remote starts working for an extended period of time -- days or weeks.
Hello,

We got the Harmony 1100 remote a few weeks ago and have been very happy with it (and we're average at tech), however we just upgraded our receiver and now am stuck. We purchased a Pioneer Elite VSX-33. I went to the "add device" and it appears to have found the Pioneer Elite VSX-33 in their database.

The problem I have is the input ports for the new receiver do not actually match what I have. Harmony gives me the following port options:

Tuner
CD-R/TAPE1/MD
CD
VCR1/DVR
VCR2
TV/SAT (Recommended)
DVD/LD

But my components are actually hooked into the following ports:

BD = BluRay
DVR/BDR = TiVo
HDMI1 = XBox
HDMI2 = Cable Box
Video = DVD/VHS Palyer
Ipod/USB = Ipod

So I'm not given any HDMI options, BluRay, etc. Why are the port names different than what I actually have?!?! I'm so fustrated that I'm now on day 4 and still running into the same basic problem.

I have attached a photo of how it is hooked up, why don't the port names in harmony software match?!?!

Any help would be appreciated...

Do you have the 1000 or the 1100? Your remote's behavior sounds like the 1000.

You're right. It's the 1000. I posted here because I didn't realize that they would be different in this regard. Is my problem a glitch that was never fixed?

Does the remote from your receiver have buttons for each of the inputs? If so, you can use the learn function to add those commands to the 1100, and then use the learned commands to choose the input.

I noticed that my 1100 was using the wrong command for one of my inputs, and it was an easy fix to just tell it the right command to use.

Yes, they are very different. As I understand, the 1100 has a completely different operating system, and was redesigned to overcome the issues of the 1000 (which I used to have). My 1000 would often freeze requiring the battery to be removed. Additionally I had run-away volume issues with my TV and AVR. All of those issues were fixed in the 1100. The 1100 is what the 1000 should have been. I don't think Logitech could completely fix the issues of the 1000 via firnware updates, so the 1100 was made. My 1100 has worked perfectly since day one (nearly two months). I doubt I will have any issues with it. I really liked the 1000 when it worked, so I bought the 1100. I'm glad I did.

Thanks for the information. I'll probably switch to the 1100 or it's future replacement if the 1000 starts hanging up more frequently.

Can you please add icons for the following TV channels under the Harmony 1100 remote on your site?

ABC Columbia (WOLO HD) http://wolo.com/
CW 47 Columbia (WZRB) http://www.cw47columbia.com/
FOX 57 Columbia (WACH HD) http://www.wach.com/
B4U Movies (B4U) http://www.b4utv.com/b4umovies/index.shtml
B4U Music (B4UMU) http://www.b4utv.com/b4umusic/index.shtml
SAHARA ONE (SHARA) http://www.saharatvusa.com/index.htm
NDTV IMAGINE (IMAGN) http://www.imagine.tv/index.php

On your site you need to correct the following icons for Harmony 1100 remote & probably other remotes too. All these are INDIAN movie channels and if you name them as shown in the square brackets [] they will be easier to find worldwide. There current name is shown in parenthesis () for your reference.

Jaya TV (ATNTamilJayaTV_ca) [JayaTV_in]
Zee Cinema (ATNZeeCinema_ca) [ZeeCinema_in]
Zee Gujurati (ATNZeeGujarati_ca) [ZeeGujurati_in]

Thanks for your icons.

I just bought the 1100 yesterday and so far, I am impressed. However it takes sometime to get used too though esp when you use it for cable when you are channel surfing, for that I would prefer to use an "actual" remote. I know I could get the 900 for the "actual" remote feel but it doesnt look cool lol.

For the longest time I was using my AVR's remote and it worked fine but it wasn't as smooth as I would like. With the 1100 one button and its good to go and it even selects the input from the TV.

Now I am just trying to get it working with the WDTV Live...

I could really use some expert help! I've had my 1100 (upgrade from am 880) for about a month now, and I absolutely love it! There's only one problem I noticed today. I was programming the activity to Listen to Cds and the software hangups up on the Hard Buttons Tab. AI can make changes on that tab and any buttons that are not other tabs (i.e. "Done" or "Learn Command") work fine. I just can't navigate to any other tab. Any help you guys can offer would be much appreciated!
