If I recall correctly, you're hooked up with speaker wire only, correct? This won't allow you to run the subwoofer "test tone" as that relies on the LFE, but you should still be feeling bass coming through a strong movie or bassy soundtrack.
- Are your front speakers being set to Large by MCACC? (If not, try setting them manually).
- Is Subwoofer set to OFF in MCACC? As it needs to be if you're running them as full range with no LFE.
- If your speakers have powered subs, make sure they're plugged in. After doing some rearranging, I found my right sub wasn't working, and it turned out the plug (underneath the base of the speaker) had slipped out, but the cord management made it seem like it was still connected.
- If you need to verify your subs are working, even if you don't want to use it down the road, try using an RCA cable and making the LFE connection (either individually or with a splitter) if your subs support it. This should let you use test tones and at least verify your subs are working. Running LFE is not entirely necessary, but it does have a few advantages (and should also mean you don't have to turn the LFE knob to max anymore).
