Ok I am going to have this setup in my living room which is 14x20, will the Sony CT100 work in that large of a room? How does music sound on it? I really enjoy Rock Band but have only had it hooked up to my tv speakers, but I am excited to play on a surround system finally
Well you can have your CT100 setup like this when it comes to HDMI:
Dish Network HD receiver====> CT100's SAT HDMI IN
PS3====> CT100's BD HDMI IN
CT100's HDMI OUT====> One of your Television's HDMI IN
(So my recommendation: Have 3 HDMI cables handy and ready to go!)
This is the best way to set it up because the CT100 is also a HDMI switcher. In other words you have two options in switching sources (aka ways to switch between your Dish Network and PS3 easily).
a) On the CT100's Sub itself, you can switch sources by merely pressing the INPUT button
b) On your (included) CT100 remote, you can press one of the five dotted buttons to switch between sources
In regards to your one question, I've helped people with the CT100 with bigger rooms than yours, so the CT100 should be fine with the room you plan on setting it up at. In regards to music, you have 2 options:
A) Using your (soon to come) PS3, you can listen to your music on your hard drive or through a CD (and you can rip music from CD to the PS3, there is an option on the PS3 for that). Both sound great using the PS3 with the sound coming out of the CT100 in Dolby Prologic II (which should broaden the sound and sound better versus regular stereo sound).
B) If you grab a Y-cable (has a 3.5mm jack on one end with Red and white RCA audio cables at the other end), you can merely plug your MP3 player to the CT100 itself (with still being able to use Dolby Prologic II).
Music does sound great through the unit and I'm usually listening to some of my music while I help you guys on this forum
About Rock Band, If the CT100 is set up properly (and you have Rock Band for PS3, with my sound settings), all your games will sound great on this unit! Be ready to turn down the Bass on this Baby though! The CT100 Sub is so powerful, alot of us have to turn it down to the negatives and it still thumps loud. So expect the drums to make your neighbors mad
Now Tupla has a nice setup above me being recommended but I do somewhat disagree with his one statement.
Audio over HDMI and the hi-rez stuff won't happen for under $300 unless you find an absolutely stupendous deal, and I wouldn't hold my breath.
Well you can stop holding your breath, the CT100 is an absolutely stupendous deal, you get audio over 3 HDMI (and more inputs!) and you get the hi-rez stuff like being able to enjoy Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA (in 5.1/7.1 LPCM uncompressed sound!) on your Bluray movies (via PCM)! upnorthlion, what are you still doing on this forum, go get the CT100 so you can experience this unit for yourself! I'll help you out as soon as you get it too, I'm on everyday on this forum. Just try to post in the main CT100 here if you have any further questions!http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...026566&page=50
