HDTV Tech Experts>>> (Regarding Audio Issue)

Thread Starter
So I just purchased a new samsung 550 1080 lcd and for the most part it has been working fine. One issue though and I'm not exactly sure what it might be. Occasionally when I turn the TV on there is no sound coming through. I tried playing with the settings the first time it happened but it seems that the only thing that works is when I unplug the HDMI cable for a moment and then put it back in. So is this a cable connection issue in which I should contact my provider or should I replace the HDMI cable? any suggestions

thanks

What is the source on the other end of the HDMI? Have you ruled out the source as your problem?

HDCP handshake issue. I've never dealt with it, but man that's gotta be annoying.

Outside of Bluray or HDDVD, to avoid that, I would simply run the HDMI direct to display, and use SPDIF to the receiver.

The only thing you lose is the convenience of hitting one less button on the remote, and if you have a universal macro-capable remote, maybe not even that.

you will OTOH gain more flexibility of video calibration per source input.
