Issue with resolution changing on TH-42PX60U

Hi,

Tried searching for similar issues, but I've never seen anything like this. If you have, any links would be appreciated.

I have an issue with my 42" Panny. Whenever I start on an HD channel and change to an SD channel or source (like the OnDemand menu), the picture gets completely messed up. The image shifts so far to the right that half of it gets moved to the other side of the screen, and the color gets drained. See the pic below. I can fix it by turning off the TV and then turning it back on, but that's hardly ideal. Switching back to the HD source returns the picture to normal, but going from there back to the SD source still results in the split picture.

If it matters, I'm using a Motorola manufactured cable box from Comcast through HDMI, model DCT-6200. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Your problem is the HDMI. Switch to component for a day or two, and try get the problem to happen again... if it doesn't, then you've narrowed the problem to the HDMI. More than likely it isn't a problem with the TV itself, but rather with the cable box.

I agree that it sounds like the HD Cable Box is causing the problem.

Another thing you can try is go into the cable box's output format menu and change it to output everything at 1080i only and that should enable you to continue to use HDMI and should eliminate the problem. This is what i do on my SA8300HD Cable DVR and also my Tivo Series 3 as i was having similar problems switching between HD and SD channels.

Thanks a bunch to both of you. Forcing it to 1080i seems to have solved the issue!
