Excuse the lighting...snapped them quickly before work this morning. My whole place is almost all concrete, so running cables is a little wonky. The last picture is my attempt to remedy the solution, and still have a somewhat clean appearance. It works for me.

I spent quite a bit of time on here researching and reading opinions of things before making my decisions. I really can't thank this group enough for the work they put into this community. I'm a "one big home theater upgrade every 7 or 8 years" guy, so I don't think I'll be upgrading as much as you guys, but I thought you'd like to see what your efforts on here have produced for a relative rookie to all of this.

The view gets even better to the right of what you see. Soldier Field, Lake Michigan...definitely happy with the location.

I have Comcast (UGH) cable, as there was no place for a dish anywhere. The H15 is only about half the depth of the DVR box, so there's plenty of room for the heat to escape, and it wouldn't sit the other way around anyway, honestly. Had that set up that way for a couple of weeks, and no issues to speak of. I have a small fan running in the back, so it dissipates much of the heat anyway.


Yup...played a little music when I first got everything, and watched Kung Fu Panda last night. I thought I was gonna jump out of my chair when fist hit table in the first couple of minutes. This setup is definitely sick. Will still be a bit before I have it tuned completely, but that's half the fun.

A Bose Acoustimass setup. I don't apologize for it, though. Bose is excellent at marketing, so for those who lived in ignorance before now, it's tough not to think that they're high-quality. You don't know what you don't know...ya know?

The only way I would feel ashamed is if I knew what I knew now, and STILL thought it was great. There's no comparison, though.


LOL...it's ridiculously comfortable, so it's tough to get rid of. And the cat likes it. I've had that couch/chair for about 12 years. But I, like most, prioritize tech gear over furniture when making the budget. Eventually, though, I definitely will.

I'm with ya, man. The clarity and headroom is pretty astounding on such small speakers.

LOL...wondered if anyone would catch that. I didn't until after I snapped the pic. It's actually a hilarious book. Definitely a coffee table book that everyone gets the urge to pick up, which is kinda the point.


Surprisingly, it doesn't. When there's no furniture in it, it definitely does, but once you get stuff in there, the room deadens pretty well. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but it's true.


I haven't found rear stands that I like, particularly ones that raise the speakers up to "above ear" level. I saw someone on here that used weighted Rubbermaid containers with regular stands, so I may do that. That stands that Aperion sells for the 4Bs are pretty low-rated, so I'm gonna see if they replace them and what with.

I really want to do some sound treatments, but A) I can't drill into the walls, and B) the more I read about acoustically treating a room, the more it confuses me. It sounds surprisingly good without it, so I'm hesitant to mess with it much.

5B's just screw right onto the top of them. They're heavier and sturdier than I expected, and have cable management built right in. I like 'em.
