My dad recently bought a pair of Polk Rti8 speakers for his new media room for his new house.
We bought them today because they were on clearance at fry's.
Unfortunately, he won't be moving into his new house for another month at the minimum and he really wanted to hear these speakers at home sooner.
He has a vintage amp from the late 70s/early 80s; a Technics sa-104
Here are the stats I found from this site:
http://www.nrpavs.co.nz/TechnicsSA-104.htm
Features :
-:®:- 1982 vintage
-:®:- Power : 20W RMS at rated THD distortion 0.04%
-:®:- Frequency response : 20Hz - 22kHz
-:®:- Phono signal / noise : 77dB A-weighted
-:®:- tuner FM : mono 16.1dBf for 50dB quieting, stereo 38.3dBf
-:®:- Dimensions [ W x D x H ]: 425 x 255 x 80mm
-:®:- Weight : 4.90kg
I don't know anything about what to look for or look out for in regards to powering a loud speaker.
Will this amp be able to power the Polks, or will it damage the speakers or amp? He's really anxious, but I don't want to take any chances considering this was the last pair.
