Need specs for cinema use

I am looking at adding video projection to my single screen theatre for alternate content. My throw is about 60 feet, and the scope width of the screen is 27 feet. What ballpark figures do I need to consider when looking for a projector to give me sufficient light and image quality for that size room?

Thanks!

Resolution: ideally 1080p/2K (unless seating is relatively far from screen).
Native lens: 2.9:1 throw ratio (60' throw / 20.4' 16:9 screenwidth)
Scope lens: Add-on lens needed to stretch width to 27'; prices start at a couple of thousand $
Brightness: Screen is 310 sq ft. Movie theater reference brightness is 14 fl. 310 x 14 = 4340 REAL lumens required if current screen is 1.0 gain.

In fact you'll need something specced at 7000+ lumens (list of suitable models) as brightness is reduced by calibration, the scope lens, and bulb aging.

Since you posted this in the $3k-$20k forum, full 2K digital cinema models are all out of budget. There is just one model - Boxlight Pro80S3 - that comes close. It ticks all boxes except for resolution.

If your budget is in fact over $20k ask a mod to move this thread to either the $20K+ or the D-cinema forum - the experts there can advise.

Thanks for the rundown of the needed specs. No, I wasn't really considering a full D-Cinema type of installation. If so, I would just jump in and go full d-cinema install. Really just looking for something to view maybe blu-ray and hdtv for my own entertainment purposes to pass time. So I was just trying to see how close I could get to optimum specs with a non d-cinema full blown setup for a decent cost.

A theatre nearby put in an Optoma with the dark chip, and he is about 20 feet wide on a fixed width screen. His throw was about 80 feet, and he had to get a special lens that sits in front of the actual fixed lens on the projector, to get the right size for the throw. Picture had good sharpness and color on blu-ray, but just needed more light - believe he was only at 3500 lumens on that setup?

Mainly for personal use? In that case, simple solution: fill only part of that huge screen, and put both the projector and your sofa closer to it!

Your competitor probably has an Optoma EP1080 which is exceptionally bright for the budget, probably usable up to 15'. The only similar alternative is what I have: a Dell 7609WU, which I know does 17' well. Both these models have limitations (rainbow effect in particular) but prices jump to $15-20K for anything brighter.

The Optoma is so cheap, you might consider stacking two EP1080s together and aim for a 16:9 image that fills the full height of your screen (20.4 x 11.5'). Of course stacking brings it's own disadvantages...

Thanks for the response! I appreciate all the helpful thoughts....Yeah, I am considering a couple of different options, but the unit would still need to be installed in the booth with the 35mm, so no way of getting out of that 60 foot throw. Need to be able to run everything from up there, as it still is a commercial theatre, and can't be moving the unit around and such.

Just for laughs:

The Optoma's standard lens at max zoom actually does 27' wide from 60' away. That's 16:9 rather than 2.35:1, so non-scope images would have to be digitally zoomed down to avoid chopping heads& toes off.

Also, you may now need 3 of them stacked to make up for the light thrown away above & below the screen

I just found out the other theatre guy was using an Optoma EP910 --- for his setup, the color was great with that darkchip3, but just lacking a bit in the lighting level...
