Ok, great, thanks...that takes care of all the "technical" questions related to setting up the surround-sound unit's settings...I just have a few more questions:
[quote]Ok, now I have a question for you that you'll probably already know the answer to.
Ok, I know that a surround-sound unit has two main components for processing sound: decoding sound sources and sound-field programs.
My confusion, as times is what to properly apply, depending on the source.....When I'm watching regular TV (TOSLINK from TV to surround-sound unit) and the programming is HD, the unit will automatically switch to DD 5.1. When I'm watching a DVD it is the same way (and if I select DTS for the sound option, it'll, naturally, switch to that).
That said, on my unit there's "standard" and "enhanced" processing, as well as processing for a number of other sources...sadly, my manual leaves much to be desired explaining the various nuances of things.
That said, my confusion comes in when I'm dealing with a 2-channel source....does my unit automatically switch to the correct decoding method for this source, as well, or do I need to manually select which methodology to use to decode 2-channel sources (whether they be analog or digital)?
here's the manual to my specific receiver, if it helps any: http://www.yamahamusic.com.au/produc...s/HTR5940S.pdf
