according to everything I have read, White noise is just like white light all sound at same volume. To the ear white noise seems to have more high freq.
Pink noise is what is used for tuning audio with RTA's and the actual sound slowly rolls off the higher frequency and sounds more flat to human ears.
So compared to white noise, Pink noise is somewhat filtered but its called pink noise for a reason, just like when your tuning tv picture with whites, greys etc...
So now know all that, when i talk about filtered pink or full bandwidth pink I am talking about the scientific pink noise standard.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_noise
they have sound clips of white and pink on the page above
Like said above Digital Video essentails uses a pink noise that is altered, which it calls "band limited" pink noise which is approx 400hz-2.5 khz
Tuning with this is good for setting the level but not good for Eq'ing the freq bands with a RTA and a EQ for each channel.
I am looking for a DVD with multi channel full band pink noise for each channel. This would be a advance setup dvd, this is only useful for someone with a RTA.
