Reciever info

Thread Starter
I am looking for a new reciever like many people. I have tried to read different info on recievers, but I still don't feel further along. I currently have a Dennon Home theater in a box. It is about 7-8 years old so it is time for an upgrade. Let me try and give you my requirments and see what help I can get.

I have a Samsung 46" LCD 1080p, Xbox360, HD DVR, and a Regular DVD recorder. I plan on purchasing a Blue Ray at some point. so at this point 3 HDMI ins and 1 out. I am going to keep my current speakers for now and run a 5.1 system. I might run a 7.1 when I buy new speakers.

I would like the Audessey EQ or volume EQ I think they are the same. I am looking for some thing that is clear and can be set up resonable easy. I also want a reciver that doesn't have a lot a problems like I have read about some. I am not looking to break the bank. I am thinking in the 500-700 range. One thing that has crossed my mind to get a better receiver is to purchased a refurbished one. What are peoples feeling regarding a refurbished box? I have seen some that have half the warrenty, but most of the time you know something is wrong within a year.

I have looked at the Onkyo 606, 706, 806, Denon, 1909, 2309, 2809,3808. I have looked at HK, but it is hard to compare them to the others. I am not really sure what all I am looking at. It is hard to get through all the other BS. Should I pay extra for the next level up and so on? What ever help will be great.

Thanks
Martin

Hi

I recently bought a jamo A 340 speakers . but didnt have a clue about receivers and after doing hours and hours research i ended up buying a Sherwood 6513 ( 5.1 ) as it suited my budget and it was available with the same Jamo dealer. I was afraid of buying any other receiver and ending up with something which may not suit my speakers. I should have joined the forum and asked opinion before buying and not after buying. But still i would like to have your opinion on the Sherwood receivers especially the Rd-6513. It is new model with HDMI connectivity. Please assist. Thanks
