Anyway, placed a full cup on top of the F12 and it made it's way to the edge in just a few songs. The weight of a speaker with rubber under it should be OK I guess. Good luck, let us know.

The weight of the tower speaker keeps it in place ( I didn't use foam between ). Watched Avatar cranked up last night and the tower sat there dumb and happy[quote] Can't wait for the 2nd F-12 to arrive.

In stock now at Amazon for ~$187.49 plus shipping. (Amazon kills me with their insane price fluctuations.)

I just had mine delivered from BLT. Shipping was insanely fast (once it was in stock). I got notification that it would ship on Friday, and it was delivered Saturday.

BLT has 43 in stock now. I wasn't expecting mine till the end of the month. They said I wouldn't get charged till it was delivered, it was charged 3 days ago so I should get it soon.

Picked mine up from BLT...Ordered on Monday (yesterday), and it's already in my basement. I love it so far. Needs some fine tuning. I'm running it on an Onkyo 606. Quite nice for $182 shipped!

hey bic guy, I was one of them that said (music so-so). Now that I have 2 hooked up AWESOME. Must have been room acoustics, cause now that I have 2 hooked up I'm listening to more tunes.
In fact, I'm thinking of suspending my CD player, like I use to do the LP player. Cause your lights shouldn't be blinking either (I Don"t Think) or maybe it's to many beers. Having skipping problems with 2 of these monsters. GO PACK GO !!!!!!!!!!!! For basically a couple hundred bucks a piece you can't go wrong in my book. I' m officially done upgrading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Cause I up graded my receiver too.. Got to QUIT ....................................................Period

Nice photo, and setup. I couldn't help but notice your reel-to-reel in the right hand corner. Mine's been in the basement for over a decade now, as our listening habits have changed. Would you be interested in several cases of tape? Mostly Scotch 203. I don't know what to do with it, as I think it's not recyclable and I hate to just toss it in the landfill.

RL, haven't you heard, global warming as it turns out, is all BS, go ahead and throw it in the garbage!
I too noticed the old R to R, used to be the catsass when I got my first 'stereo,' now, not so much. Can you even buy the tape now?

Thanks for the offer but I have extra tape. The only reason it's still set up, is because the deck was my brothers and he pass away. Mainly set up for memorabilia.

As bigwheels alluded to, make sure you set your front speakers to "small" or set the crossover to at least "80hz" or maybe even "100hz". This will shove the lower frequency stuff over to the subwoofer where it belongs. Make sure you have your LPF/LFE setting on the AVR set to 120hz. Make sure you have the sub itself set to Dolby Digital/DTS so that the internal crossover is disabled, and ensure you have the sub connected to the subwoofer/LFE output of the receiver.

If you run the auto-setup, make sure that you change the speaker settings I mentioned AFTER! The Auto Setup will change the speaker size/crossover frequencies. If you see that the auto setup is setting your subwoofer's output to something like +12db, then you should increase the volume on the subwoofer itself and re-run the setup until it gets close +/- 3db from 0 if possible. From there, you should only have to bump it +1, or maybe +2 db for personal preference.

If you still aren't getting any decent output, I suggest you do the sub-crawl, which has been described around here quite a bit. It could be positioning and/or phase.

Good luck!

PS Sorry if this wasn't written coherently, I've been wanting to reply for a few days now and just rushed through it while at work!

Just making sure I understand you correctly. I have all my speakers set to 80 hz, and the LPF of LFE set to 120 hz. I also have my crossover frequency on the back of my sub set to its highest setting, 180 hz. How do I have the sub itself set to Dolby Digital/DTS? Thank you

Also I have run the Audyssey a few times and everytime it has set my sub to -12db or -14 db. I read if this happens to lower the volume on the sub but I only have it set to 3. Am I really supposed to lower the volume even more?
Kyle, if you are using the RCA input of the F12 (from the "sub out" or "pre out" of your amp) then switch the F12 to "DD5/6/7.1" ... Also I remember the F12 seems like the volume knob has to be turned way down. If your Audyssey is not within -10 db then yes turn it down a bit further and run it again.

I believe I already have it set to DD 5/6/7.1 on the back of the sub, but I will make sure. Also, I guess I will try to reduce the volume down to 2 and re-run Audyssey and see if that helps. Thanks for the help!

I've been listening to the reel now that we disused it. What would you like for the tapes? I'm feeling nostalgic all of a sudden. Man my bro did good recording.

tried Pm'ed ya hopefully it worked. Thanks Rob/ Been screwing around with it again, it works but I'm not getting how I'm getting it to work? I've downloaded the manual last year and I still don't quite get it. He's got good toons on the tape. I'm not sure if it's just from not being used for so long or me, that it takes so long to get it to run. I think it's the operator, figured it out, it ain't me the reel hub needed a little lube.

LOL I was a bit buzzed, and it didn't even register in the old gourd.
I knew you meant tunes. Thanks BIC for posting this as I had completely forgotten that I had promised to get back to Zippo this week regarding the tapes. Sorry, I did not realize that you (he) were somewhat of a novice - no offense intended. I have five cases tapes and if you're just becoming familiar with audio then maybe that would be overkill if I were to ship all that to you. In addition I have TONS of accessories (10" magnesium reels, hubs and such) that would frankly be a bit out of your league.

I sold (or gave away) most of my vinyl and a lot of my audio gear a couple years ago. I just really need to clear out the basement while I'm still young enough... if you can call it that ... If you're really interested I could ship one of the cases to you, but I don't remember what's on them as I lost my master list a couple decades ago.

I joined the F12 club, well I will in a few days when they, two of them, get here from Amazon.
I got 2 Polk audio Monitor 70, 4 Monitor 30 and a CS2 center to go with them. All powered by an Onkyo TX-SR707 that I got last December. Can't wait to give a good BD movie a run with this new speaker system.

I'm having a couple problems with my new bic f-12. I'm not exactly sure if it's the pre-out sub from the receiver or the sub in but when I try to connect it that way I don't really hear the subwoofer. I did the Audyssey setup and when it went to the part of the subwoofer I did hear some testing noise but it wasn't very loud. However, when I use the other method it's booming. I guess I should isolate the problem and see if it's the receiver or the sub but I don't have an extra receiver.

Another question...if I end up having to do the other method, do I need to change any settings on the bic or audyssey setup. Also is there any loss of quality vs the sub out.

Hi ajsimeon, what are your sub settings? Do you have Receiver Type set to "Digital 5.1,6.1,7.1"?
Yes I do. However, even if I switch it to the other nothing changes. Is it fair to say if I run audyssey and it finds the subwoofer, that means the pre out and sub in aren't broken? I have to turn the bass all the way up to hear it using that method.

What is the sub trim level after running Audyssey auto setup?

Maybe (a sub pre-out glitch) its best to reset the microprocess in the receiver back to factory default and rerun auto setup.
Well I have a denon avr 590. Is the sub trim level the same as going into the channel level and doin a test tone start. When i go to the subwoofer it was at -12db. I turned it up some and it seems like it's working. I was reading the audyssey setup and do I need to do the setup again turn down the subwoofer so it could adjust it?

Also if my speaker distance setting is wrong should I manually edit that? I've done it a couple times already and it says 8ft which is definitely not the case and the subwoofer is 22ft. That's not the case either.

Yes, if you have the sub volume knob at 12 o'clock (5) turn it down to 10 o'clock (3). Rerun setup to get the sub trim level up closer to 0 or to -3db.
