BIC America F12 sub anyone ? - Page 91

Just an afterthought.....

The BIC F12 is a good sub. Not the best, and better than most, especially in its price range.

Now forget the price.

The F12 is an outstanding upgrade to home speaker systems on the market that costs up to about $200 per speaker. If you can afford to spend more than $200 per speaker, than you can probably afford to buy a better sub.

This is, of course, JMHO.

It wont be. Why would you even consider an F12 if you have a Dayton 1200?

Significantly better than the 1200, Definitely. A huge upgrade, No. imo
But you would have to spend much more to get a huge upgrade.

There are dozens of subs that would be a huge upgrade to the 1200. You may be better off getting 2 F12s. Go to the subwoofer section and start a thread to get more advice.

Well I just got a lead on an entire BIC acoustec system that comes with the pl-200 and I don't even have the f-12 yet. If I can get the system i will sell the F-12 when it arrives. It just shipped yesterday and it is new.

It won't hurt to use both subs, try it!

So, Ive been using Logitechs z-5500 speakers for quite sometime and theyve served me well but now I want to experience some high quality stuff for a good price. I snagged a deal on Energy Take Classic speakers for 299, but I fear the sub in that package wont quite deliver in my medium sized room. I was wondering if anyone can give me their thoughts on how much of an upgrade the F12 will be comming from the z-5500s sub and the 8" sub in the Energy Classic. or I can use the 8" sub with the F12 at the sametime ? Im getting a Yamaha RX-V373 receiver as well. Im expecting everything to come later today or tommorow. Please give me your thoughts and suggestions. I know I should prolly shoot for a $500 sub but theres no way thats happening anytime soon.

You can use the F12 with the 8" Energy and it would be a definite improvement.

Have anyone compare the Klipsch RW 12D vs Klipsch SW112 to the Klipsch SUB 12HG?
The RW 12D and SUB12 are basically the same price
Which one you think would shake the walls the most in a 24x52 room?

None of those will shake the walls at all in a room that size. Unless you get 3 or 4 of them.

But which one will sound more boomy with music overall, not by specs but experience
post #2718 of 2834
"Boomy" is usually a bad thing for subwoofers. Its unlikely you will find someone has heard them all. You should start a new thread with your question in the subwoofer section of AVS. You will get plenty of input there. This thread is kinda dead. smile.gif
post #2719 of 2834
I was trying to do that but I don't know how to start a new thread

Just ordered this guy, should be at my house on thursday, but can someone tell me what kind of driver is in this thing i see it has Foam surround, but its odd it looks like its a metallic driver like klipsch, just doesn't seem right to me however. If anyone who owns this sub could help me figure this out that would be great but if not i will post back possibly and say.

Two subs are ALWAYS better than going with just one sub.

You'll get smoother bass response from seat to seat and they'll combat the problems with standing waves in your room.

Even they are not identical?

Two f-12's (and save $100) or one SVS PB-1000?? What do you think?

I have the F12 for my tv viewing room that I use to watch tv only with 5.1 surround, it's not really too bad for a $200.00 sub. And I knew that before buying the BIC F12, but I could not afford another SVS PB12 Plus at roughly
$1200.00 for just tv viewing.

In my home theater I have the SVS PB12 Plus. The SVS blows the BIC F12 out of the water easily. But you're talking about two totally different subs.
If you'll be using this for movies, I highly recommend SVS. Great company to deal with, outstanding product and FREE shipping on a sub that may weigh over 100 pounds. Mine weighs 127 pounds.
What my sub looks like....

Your doing it wrong, if your relying on a single subwoofer.
You need to add another PB12 Plus to your setup.

Contrary to what you might think, it’s not about getting louder bass.
Multiple subs help even out the bass response over a larger seating area.
A secondary effect is to help reduce the excessively long decay times of the prominent modal frequencies.
