Anyone download audiobooks?

Thread Starter
Recently purchased a CD format of an audiobook, but wondering if anyone has experience with downloaded books in MP3 format. Any good websites? Is iTunes store the best? It seems kind of expensive and doesn't appear to be part of the iTunes "plus" non DRM section.

thanks in advance.

The only ones I d/l are the free ones available from Project Gutenberg. These are public domain works. Pretty decent quality (not commercial, but not bad), a good way to pass time on the treadmill.

WCoast02,

I listen to a lot of Audio Books while commuting - mostly purchased and some exchanged with friends. I buy almost everything I listen to from either B&N (Have membership), Amazon or used book store's. I am going to switch over to downloads soon and have talked to friends and searched on the web and here are a few you might consider:

Audible.com (Very good plans) - I will probably go with this one
Simplyaudiobooks.com

And the Library is a good bet also.

Thanks AcuraCL for the Guttenberg link!

The best selection of audiobooks to me seems to be Audible and there is software using Goldwave to convert the Audible files into standard MP3s
