A first for WipeOut last night. One of the final four contestants didn't even get to run the WipeOut Zone final course. The first lady's time was so slow (20+ minutes), that the other two family contestants (who ran back to back) combined time was faster, thus they won the $50K prize and eliminated the need for the fourth run.
Poor guy, had to be looking forward to it (or maybe looking with dread) and then finds out he doesn't get to do it (or maybe to his total relief).
I'm not so sure about that. If you look at last night (and other "couples" episodes) you don't see the other person at the finish line, cheering on their teammate UNTIL they've completed the course themselves. Last night, we saw the dad, looking wet and exhaused; as though he'd already run the Gauntlet
, telling his daughter how to complete the course. Also, I thought the last couples episode was quite clear that there was a 20 minute time-limit, yet the daughter clocked in at just OVER 20 mins.
I think this was a bit of trickeration on the part of the production team (meaning; they purposely mixed up the contrestant order, like always...yet for a different reason) so that they could devote more time to other events/wipeouts. The drama was pretty much lost once "Attitude Girl" failed so miserably.
