First new subwoofer purchase in almost a year ...

Hi guys - I just ordered a pair of the Outlaw LFM-1 EX's. For $1038, it was too good to pass up. We have a PB13-Ultra, pair of MFW-15's, a Def Tech Trinity, and a bunch of other stuff here.

NO ... it won't be like the old test days. One of the old crew now lives in Tennessee, and another in Texas.

This is just for fun.

Woohoo! Your work is much appreciated and sorely missed.

Craig,

Most of us use your subwoofer information was "gospel" as quoted by some others, but really using it helped me make an informed decision when I bought my Epik Tower.

I know we all look forward to any new information you bring to the table as it will be unbiased and informative!

On a side note I am jealous of your location in PA. You guys seem to have a much better beer selection in the northeast as opposed to us Texans here. The beer landscape is changing in Texas (for the better!) but still not where it needs to be for a beer nerd

+1 on that. I ordered a Trinity based on your review. I can't wait to write how I like it soon!

Are you keeping the dual F112'S or are they on the chopping block?

Those left a long time ago. It was actually dual 113's and a single 112. All went to good homes.

Awful glad to see ya back.
And great timing as well!
I'm in "brain freeze" mode so really need your review/insights to tilt me one way or the other.

I got the invoice today for the LFM-1 EX pair. It promises a tracking number sometime tomorrow ...

Maybe they will arrive in time for Valentine's Day. That could score BIG points with da missus ...
Craig, you're lucky you still have a missus!

Craig,

Glad to see the addiction goes on. I saw that you aren't going to be able to do tests as in the past but I hope that you will still post your impressions so the rest of us can live vicariously through you.

Also, if that Ultra ever needs a good home....

Chad,

Just head a "little" north. Denver, Colorado is the "Napa Valley" of beer after all and I see Texas plates on vehicles everyday. Once a year we have a pretty cool beer festival that if you are a beer nerd you HAVE to come to at least once.

Great beer selection... in PA? Hell, we have the PLCB, (PA Liquor Control Board.) They control everything coming into PA. You can't even buy beer on Sundays, except at a bar, and then it's *only* six-packs. You can't buy beer or wine in grocery stores or mini-marts. Beer can *only* be sold at a beer distributor, and they can *only* sell beer, no wine or liquor. It's silly!

However, we do have some *very* good microbreweries.

I too just received my invoice for a pair of LFM-1 EXs and I am crossing my fingers that they arrive by Friday (but probably Monday).

From a very rudimentary perspective, can someone suggest a starting trial position for the pair given a standard 5.0 setup with Rocket 850s, 450s and 200?

Make sure they are out of the box and in the same room as the speakers.

Oh ... were you looking for more help than that ?

How big is the room ? Often times, if you can place subwoofers right behind the listening position, they are awesome.

Hey Craig, congrats on your new addition!

It was mainly through your craigsub reviews and alot of reading that I purchased the PB 13 Ultra a few months ago....wow, what an awesome piece of gear, one of my best additions by far!

You were also kind enough to answer my questions via PM regarding different potential floorstanders for my mains....I ended up with the Rocket 850's back in May and I am still very pleased and happy them.

Have you heard the Police' concert on BD? OMG, simply amazing the way the system all blends so well and sounds freaking rediculously awesome.

Thanks again and Cheers my friend!

That's a really nice system. Clean sound from 16 Hz and up ... gotta love it.

Thanks for the tip on the disc !

Actually, I have 2 leather chairs about 6 feet apart and about 13 feet back from the front speakers. I could put one sub behind each chair...

But I play him on TV.

have read your reviews, what is your opinion on Home Theater Direct Subwoofers Level II and or III?

That might work ... or you might get cancellations. You might also try them colocated behind and between the chairs. Experiment - the Outlaw Subs are relatively compact and easy to move.

If you are asking me, I don't have any experience with those subs. I think craigsub is really the guy you want.

Nice Craig...looking forward to your thoughts on the Outlaw subs.

I've been really considering getting an LFM-Compact to replace my Acculine Asub, since the sale price is so d$%m good right...but I still haven't made up my mind...

It's time you stopped messing around and stepped up to an A7-900.
