Multiple touch screens on a single PC?

Anyone know the implications of this?

For example:

1) I want up to 6 screens driven from a single PC, no more than 1024x768

2) I want a few of the screens (2-3 of them) to be "clones", so that they display the exact same thing.

3) I want the rest to be independent, and display different things.

This is not for HDCP content or anything, so no worries about that. It's for some touch screen control. I'll be running Vista 32 Ultimate, unless something else would make this work better.

Anyone know how clone works?

Any suggestions on video cards (remembering that this is for 1024x768, and not gaming or video)?

Thanks!

You could use something like PNY Quadro NVS 440 256MB PCIE X16 Quad DVI
then put a three port video splitter on one output port (for the clones) giving
you 4 different outputs from the pc one of those outputs going to a further
three screens.

For sharing touchscreens I have used four port serial NTI Vopex units which
worked well (you may be able to cascade these for the other inputs.

Hope this helps

Been researching similar setup and found that the touchscreen monitors must also have controllers capable of dealing with multi setup. Also, best off to use same type. It appears that 4 touch screens can be supported with Vista.
Just researching this, may not be true in the end! Good Luck

That is only required if every screens touchscreen output is fed back to the same PC

The Vopex unit only has one lead to the PC and auto switches all the touchscreen
outputs to that one PC lead (gets round the problem)

I installed many NDS and ELO serial touchscreens like this without problems in operating theatres

I've ended up using a serial/DVI touchscreen from newegg for now. It uses regular drivers, and I've found the serial connection to be far more reliable than the USB connection (over cat5 baluns). Both DVI and USB over cat5, then USB to serial (and Bluetooth, for my mini keyboard).

It can support as many screens as the OS can which I assume is at least 4.

There's also a new USB-only touch screen that's not out yet, but I plan to get one when it's available. Looks like a perfect small-form-factor screen.

Anyway, the problem is pretty easily solved straight from newegg if you can use a 15" screen (which is kinda big, but nice).

You may want to look into the Mimo 750, it's a USB powered 7inch screen, has touch functionality if interested.

Yeah, that's the one I mean. However it's been delayed like 3 times already. Next bet is mid-march.

Also, it's probably USB 2.0, which means using Cat5 will require a $300+ balun, as the $30 ones max at USB 1.0 speeds.

Unless anyone knows a good USB 2.0 balun for < $300?
