Can Vista output a 1080i signal without making everything tiny?

Thread Starter
I often use my HTPC for it's non-media center functions, and I would like to be able to keep the output resolution at 1080i, but when it is set at that resolution, I can't read anything, because everything's so small and fuzzy, and buttons are hard to click on due to their small size (My TV is an older, rear projection HDTV without 1:1 pixel-mapping).

Right now I just keep it at a lower resolution when I am using it as a standard PC, and change to 1080i if and when I want to play high-def stuff in windows media player. Thankfully Media Center switches to 1080i by itself, but sometimes I would prefer to use media player (see my subtitle thread, started minutes earlier).

Any suggestions?

There is a Font scaling option in the Control Panel which works moderately well except:

- some websites override Windows with their own font sizing
- some applications won't fit the larger text (words cut off on buttons, etc.)

For the most part though it works OK. I run my 1920x1080 HTPC at 120% font scaling.
