I feel a movie night tonight... (at reduced volume).
Just a quick summary of my projector findings:
When I finally received my RS50 after waiting quite some time I was so excited. The trouble is that IMHO that projector is a DUD
for large screens. It only measured 540 lumens for decent but still uncalibrated modes on brightest settings. It has other issues with CMS but the RS50 thread contains all the gory details. In case you think 540 lumens is sufficient, you are right it was just enough, but I know it won't be a couple of months from now when the bulb dims.
After a couple of hours I realized it was not going to work, so I sent it back for an exchange RS40 and saved $2K. I must say that AVS are very good in this respect.
The RS40, which I installed last night, measures 722 lumens for the mode closest to that tested on the RS50. That's 38% brighter. The picture quality looks just as good. I probably need to tweak it a little but now at least I know I can survive a 30% dimming of the bulb and still have a bright enough image. So far I'm impressed.
