I need your help.I have an old receiver YAMAHA RX-V2095 ,EOSONE RF 1000 main speakers plus center and rear speaker EOSONE also.I have a brand new PANASONIC HDTV television and hdtv panasonic dvd.The Yamaha receiver is lacking for HDMI in and out,I do not have the slightest intention to throw away that YAMAHA,What would it be the best connection for audio and get the most of sound even when is not HDMI.I was thinking of OPTICAL,I need your opinion, thank you

optical or digital coaxial will work very well, both give the same results.

I'm not quite sure what a "hdtv panasonic dvd" really means. Is that a Blu Ray player? Upconverting DVD player?

Connect your DVD player to your TV using HDMI. Connect your DVD player and other sources to your receiver using optical/coax digital cables, set them all up and enjoy. HDMI audio is really significant only if you have a Bluray player.

Hook the PS3 directly to the TV so at the least you can get 1080p video. You will not be able to take advantage of the new audio CODEC's. If the Yamaha has analog 5.1 audio inputs, you can buy a BD player that internally decodes and outputs via 5.1. You'll need six RCA cables from the player to the receiver. The HDMI from the player will go directly to the TV.
