Here is my simple apartment setup...

From this...

To this...

To this Elite...

well...to be fair it really wasn't from "this" to "that". When I moved here I sold my 210 pound Sony Triniton to the movers and used my 32inch until my PDP-111FD arrived. Also was looking for a stand while waiting for the 111FD and when I found one I put the little Samsung on there. The Samsung has been moved back to the bedroom where it had been.

Setup:

Pioneer Elite PDP-111FD
Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD
Pioneer Elite VSX-45TX
Athena Audition Series speakers (forgot all the model numbers and too lazy to look them up).

Have had the receiver and speakers for about 6 years now...still sound outstanding. Just glad that there is such a thing as internal decoding over analog for the Blu Ray so I didn't have to upgrade that.

Still trying to figure out wire management.
*sigh*

That Kuro is very nice. I have my eye on one right now. The 54TX is also a great receiver. I had one for years. It was paired with a couple of B&K reference amps. I switched to a 54TX but ultimately preferred the 45. Did you get your display from Bjorn's?

The Pioneer Elites have pretty nice display dimming settings on their units but you're probably getting lots of light from that Scientifica Atlanta box. What I did was buy auto tint film and cut a couple of pieces to fit over the display. Now it is visible but not distracting.

aaaah. Never thought about getting some film over the Scientific Atlantic display. That is why it is on the bottom shelf...so I really don't see it from my couch (coffee table blocks the view). The 45tx and 05FD are nice because you can turn off the displays. My only gripe with the 111FD is the blue LED...which you can turn down the intensity but can not completely turn it off. I do not use the Elite's light sensor...but have the ISF Night and Day calibrations for Blu Ray watching. Regular TV I just use the Pure mode...all the above using D-Nice reference settings.

I bought the 111FD from a Forum sponsor. Great and quick service. Bjron's has them for about the same price...but when you add in the tax and I'm sure delivery charges from them...well the Forum sponsor was the way to go. I believe the prices have dropped a lot with the forum sponsor...so it is probably way cheaper now than Bjorn's.

Nice set up. It's great to see how your system has progressed.

Very nice improvement!

And I see your first after shot has a before/after shot of some guy and his hair change, on the screen.

Nice transformation. I like the TV stand. I have the same one in my setup. Looks awesome...when I take the time to dust it.

yea...I find myself dusting it and the tv daily. Love black...just hate cleaning/dusting it. Stand is really nice. Had been looking at the BDI Icon 9429 ( http://www.bdiusa.com/theater/icon_9429.shtml ) but it wasn't deep enough (or couldn't hold my center channel) ... plus it was just a bit much price wise.

haha

We had to watch it for an Anthropology II class back in college and loved it. It has a really awesome soundtrack and the scenes are really really nice. Would be awesome to see all those places.
