TMNT Boxset Coming to Blu-Ray August- - Page 2

Sigh! They don't offer them individually? First we get ripped off with "The Wizard of Oz" due to it costing $60 for this "Limited Edition" and now this. What if I just want 1 and/or 2 only?? Why are they screwing us Blu-ray people?

BTW, that packaging may look nice, but it looks like it will fall apart real easily. I'd rather have the blue jewel cases than a fancy, cheap pizza box.

Wow is that box awful. Talk about potential for breaking, bending, tearing, and otherwise mutilating it. It's going to be an incredible pain in the ass to access a movie. *sigh*
post #33 of 87
Wow. That packaging is a whole new kind of sux.
I think they're trying to find ways to convince us not to double dip. I already have these movies on DVD and I admit, I was considering upgrading because the DVDs don't have the best transfers in the world. But seeing that packaging and the fact that these aren't going to be offered separately just made me decide to not bother with these and just keep my DVDs.
They could've at least given us a nice looking pizza box.
Ok. That does it. I am convinced between digibooks, UCEs, and now this that Warner is trolling the Blu Ray Community. They have to be actively trying to make bad packaging to make something that awful.
For those of you planning on buying this, you should have a contest with each other to see whose box will last the longest before falling apart.
Are these fresh pizzas (grain) or New Line's leftovers (DNR)?
I'm seriously hoping that those pictures are a joke. I'm having a hard time believing that New Line would even consider that kind of packaging. Why can't we stick to those same blue jewel cases? I don't understand.

It's real. Sorry guys.

Paper bag??? For real??!!! Ok, anyone know of a good, tall building I could jump off of?

But isn't that interesting. First, The Wizard of Oz, then TMNT and now LOTR. And all of those I already have on DVD. So, I guess I'll hang onto my DVD collection of those movies and screw the BD versions.

The EEs will come in satin bag aka a "ring bag, like the one Frodo and Samwise carried!" No holders, though. They'll just float around.
Ok, the packaging sucks but how are the transfers? Any DNR? And the sound? Hmm Gizmo?
I take back everything bad I said about the Battlestar Galactica packaging sucking: this packaging is the worst thing I've ever seen. I get it that it's supposed to resemble a pizza box, but I was really expecting individual slip cases ala the Matrix collection or the Austin Powers collection. Not... this.

I can understand this packaging being attractive to absolute die-hard TMNT fans, but for casual fans that might've picked this up, they probably just turned that entire crowd off to this set.

Offer this as some "special edition" packaging, and then offer a regular set for normal human beings that want the packaging to last more than three months.

Thanx. Not too surprised considering the source and date of the material.

Wow, that packaging is the worst. Someone please start making custom covers now. These will instantly go into Blu cases when I get the set.

I got a pretty good chuckle myself. (sans the spittle) Good Photoshop work. ^_^

The funniest part is that xraffle appears to have fallen for the joke.

I agree. Custom covers are a must for this. Maybe Evangelo2 or DealthStalker2 can help us out with that!
I hope they are TMNT fans.

*Nevermind, someone at the custom covers thread made some already. Awesome!

I did, lol. I originally thought that the pizza box packaging for TMNT had to be a joke, but since that turned out to be for real, then I figured that the LOTR picture is probably real as well. I mean, both pizza box and paper bag are both just as bad, IMHO.

Saw those. The pizza motif is fun, but I'm hoping someone does movie poster covers as if each movie was being released individually.

Now DNRed...

Well I can tell you that majority of movies on BD are DNRed. Some are done excessively and others are just done a little bit to reduce the amount of noise in the picture. I can tell because when you look closely at the picture, several small details of the picture are smoothed out. There are a few BDs I've encountered that don't have DNR, but they turn out to be very grainy.
lol at the packaging. They are really trying to cater to the nerds that pick these up because it's "unique". I'll stick with my movies on hard drive via Media Center thank you very much.
i love unique packages and dvd books and cd digipacks. more collectable.
