Hello to all,

I am setting up my new Yamaha 663 and was wanting some suggestions to send me in the right direction. The equipment that I will hooking up are as follows:

-Sony BDP S550 via HDMI
-Xbox 360 via Component
-AAD M Series 5.1 surround
-HD Cable box (Charter) via component

My uses will be mainly for movies/tv, gaming, and music. From what I understand, my BD can decode all of the latest audio formats. I want to get the most out of my equipment. Thanks to all.

Hey Fete,

I have the 661 with a Dish Net 722 box, Xbox 360, A20 HD-DVD and BDP-BX1 all hooked by HDMI. I ended up getting a Siig 4-port HDMI switch at Fry's and running everything into that.

I tried every conceivable connection before that. Dish and Xbox into the TV and the 2 DVD's into the 661, switch it all around, you name it. I then had a coax cable coming out of the TV (Mitsubishi LT-52144) into the 661 to carry Dolby Digital and PCM. It ended up very weak sounding.

With the Siig running into the DVD HDMI port on the 661, I now get very rich surround out of all components. Plus it's a 1-button switching for everything instead of playing remote roulette. I turn on the TV and stereo with 1 button, then just pick the port of the component I want to watch (okay, that's 2 buttons, but you get the idea). LOL

Hope this points you in the right direction and saves you a few weekends that I blew?

Mark
