Tivo and straight Cable hookup help

Alright, I am stumped. I have a Standard single tuner Tivo and a Scientific Atlanta Cable Box. I would like to split the cable line from the wall into two cable lines. One would serve non-HD (but digital) cable, and the other would go to the Tivo (HD, which I know downconverts to SD, but $$ is not available right now). Since the Tivo is a single tuner model, I would like to switch off the Tivo and onto the straight cable so I could watch something else while another show records. What is the best way to run this to my receiver, which is a Denon 1908?

My setup now:

Vizio GL-42
Standard Tivo (single tuner)
Scientific Atlanta box with component and Svideo plugs (and one optical port)
Denon 1908 (which does not upconvert to HDMI).

Man, I could sure use some advice fellas.

You lost me a little. I have to guess as to what you want.

I am going to assume you are not feeding your cable box to the Tivo. You might want to do that if you had to deal with encrypted premium channels.

Assuming you simply want to switch between the Tivo and the cable box, it's pretty simple.

Split the cable to the cable box and the Tivo. Use a good quality splitter, by the way.

Both the Tivo and the Cable box should have standard AV outs. Use a different receiver input for each one. I assume you want to switch both audio and video using your receiver - that's what I would do. So you need to use two AV inputs on the receiver. That's the simplest hookup I can think of.
