Changing PS3 resolution without a display! EMERGENCY!

Hey guys, hopefully someone can answer this questions for me quickly!

I just brought my PS3 over to my girlfriend's place to play LittleBigPlanet.

At home, I have a 1080p capable display, so I have my PS3's resolution set to that. Unfortunately, when I got to her place, I remembered her tv is only 720p!

When i turn on the PS3, the tv simply has a black screen and says something along the lines of "display format not recognized".

Do you know if there is any way to change the PS3's resolution without being able to SEE the menu??

Now.. VERY luckily, LittleBigPlanet is a 720p game... so when I insert the game and then press X two times, the game loads and I get picture for the game... phew!!

BUT... I get no sound! I have my PS3 set to do audio over optical for my surround sound system at home... she doesn't have this and I need to set the audio to play over HDMI... but guess what, I can't get to the audio settings without exiting the game and going to the PS3's menu. And the second I do that, it goes back to 1080p and I don't get any picture again!

Agggghhhhh.

Can anybody help?

With the PS3 off, and it connected to the TV, press and keep holding the power button. It will beep, then beep again to let you know everything has been reset. You will now have a picture, and can set up your video an audio options.

Hold the PS3 power button down until it beeps once, then let go. This will reset the PS3 display and sound. You'll have to set it up again when you get back home.

Edit: LOL, same post time. You owe me a coke.

Phew!!

Thank you guys SOOO much!

Man... what an easy trick, I wish I'd known about that before. Thanks a ton... I felt like such a big schmuck sitting here trying to explain to my gf why we couldn't play the game... let's just say she was not interested in my explanation of different resolutions and such.

Thanks again!!
