I have several hundred mkv files I would like to burn to bluray discs. All of the mkv files contain bluray compatible audio and video streams (H.264 L4.1 video, and a mix of standard 5.1 AC3 and DTS audio) All standard stuff. I've seen many posts out there with tutorials on how to convert mkv files to interim AVCHD and TS files that can be burned to bluray discs, but that is hardly a solution. I'm not interested in creating intermediary 10+GB files on my harddrive, only then to wait even longer for essentially the same exact data to then be burned to the disc. I want a solution analogous to burning a music CD from mp3 files, where the software does the necessary stream conversions while it is buffering the data to the burner. Obviously the technical requirements of doing this are not at all the same as mp3->wav, but the concept is identical. I don't know enough about the binary formats of the streams to know if something like this is even possible, maybe someone who does can chime in and tell me I'm nuts...
If I have a 15GB mkv file, I don't want to kick off a process (tsMuxeR) to create yet another 15GB file on my hdd, that's incredibly inefficient, especially considering the files are probably 99% identical. And even when it's done, I still don't even have a disc. I have to wait for another 15GB of file I/O for the disc to be burned. Having the whole process serialized in this fashion would take forever to burn a lot of mkv files, especially with high bitrate 1080p mkv files. In fact it's not even an option, I would just rather keep the mkv files and not even bother with it.
Even with a fast machine, duplicating 15GB takes a really long time. Basically what I want is a 1 click solution from H.264/AC3/DTS mkv to a ubiquitously playable bluray disc. This has to be possible, the streams are compatible, and there is no CPU intensive task involved, just purely disk I/O and small manipulations of the container files and surrounding folder structures (for BDMV). I can't be alone here... I know you guys aren't out there duplicating jiggabytes of video data on your hdds!
