Parasound Owners Thread - Page 88

Dear parasound owners,

does anyone here have KEF R series speakers? I would like to know how well the speakers matches with parasound amp and pre amp. This will be my first time experience with hifi separates. I'm planning to improve my stereo music quality by adding A51 and P 7 or P 5 (later) to my home theater setup (KEF R900 mains, R 600c center with yamaha AVR RX-A3020).
From your personal experience what kind of improvements can be heard by adding a power amp like A51 and/or adding a preamp like P 7 to your system?
Any input appreciated.

Thanks.

I know the Halo amps work very well with the R series. I think the A31 would make a great addition to your system, let the 3020 power the surrounds which will be?

Thanks for your input Jima4a. My surrounds are KEF Q300 bookshelf. Anybody ever compare P5 vs P7 for stereo sound quality?

No P5 p7 comparisons yet. The P5 was just released and not sure if shipping has even began. Mine was ordered two weeks ago and nothing yet.

The Zbreeze was discontinued because of slow sales. I don't think there will be a replacement any time in the near future.

Thanks

I'm currently driving kef r700 and r600c with parasound a31 and kef r300 with the parasound a21 and it goes really well. I use it mainly for movies (80%) and set at -17 and it just sounds awesome.

Did you have a chance to compare parasound with other brands when you decided to buy parasound? I'm also being offered Cary 7.125 and NAD M25 as alternatives. I am more concerned with how the music sounds and the bass performance of my floorstander as I'm currently quite happy with movie performance of my AVR.

I now have an A21 on my mains and A51 on the surrounds with the P7 as pre, 100% music. It's glorious. Speakers are Energy Veritas 2.3i floorstanders front L/R and Energy Veritas 2.2i L/R surrounds, from back when API manufactured them in Canada. I also have a pair of NHT Classic 3's, nominally rears but I use them for stereo playback beside the 2.2i's in a "pseudo-headphone" setup. ( I guess I don't like wearing headphones and then of course they sound especially good on some older recordings.) Anyway, I am quite happy with the combination. Center spot is open for now.

Thanks. It was a more challenging upgrade than I imagined initially. Layout, power cords, expanded crossover capability, cables, more cables, etc. I guess that's why we do it.

Very Exciting! I am anxious to hear impressions of the P5 when you and others have a good listen.
I will be sure to post my thoughts after some listening time! Do you work for parasound?

Very cool! Richard seems like a great guy from past email correspondences. I'm sure it's a neat place to work. Have you heard the P5? I'm most curious on how it will compare to my current parasound 2100 pre!

I ordered my p5 from avs sales;)

Sorry, I should have specified - I bought my P7 at AV Unlimited - last year. I wasn't aware that Parasound is no longer available in Canada.

,IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN TRYING NADS BEST POWER AMPLIFIER , THE M25 MASTERS SERIES, IM WILLING TO TRADE FOR A HALO A51. . IF YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS BEAST, GOOGLE NAD M25. TONS OF REVIEWS ON IT.
^^^ Why are you willing/wanting to trade Nad's best amplifier for the Halo A-51? From the specs it looks like it only puts out 160 wpc into 8 ohms only and has no balanced inputs. How much money are you willing to throw into this "deal"?
THE NAD IS HEAVILY UNDER RATED. IF YOU GOOGLE YOULL FIND THE LAB RESULTS. . ITS ACTUALLY 194. 2 X 7 ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN. IF YOU CAN HEAR A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 194 OR 200 WATTS THEN YOURE OUT OF THIS PLANET. IT TAKES 3 DECIBELS TO HEAR ANY LOUDER VOLUME AND THATS ACTUALLY SAYING TWICE THE POWER.
LASTLY, YOU HAVE BALANCED INPUTS, AND THIS NAD HAS TWO EXTRA CHANNELS. I AM WILLING TO DO A TRADE BECAUSE I SUSPECT THE HALO COULD BE A BETTER MATCH FOr MY SPEAKERS. NO OTHER REASON.
