Determining the optimal screen size?

I am trying to determine how big of a screen to build for my new HT. Size constraints of the room will allow me between 110" and 120" diagonal (for a 16 x 9) screen. The main seating area will be 12' from the screen.

I am running an Epson 6500 UB (1080P) at very close throw so lumens will not be a problem for either screen. I have used the following guidelines to this point:

This says that any screen size within 40 degree viewing angle will meet THX specs (which includes the 120").

However, this calculator says that the optimal THX screen size is 107"

All things being equal, I want the bigger screen. But I am concerned that the larger screen might start to show pixelation and edges at my seating distance. The THX site does factor in PJ resolution, but the other does not so I am not sure if it matters. Can anyone shed some light onto this decision?

Much appreciated!

107"??? Poppycock. Go with the 120" screen if you can comfortably fit it in that space. To me, there's a big difference in my buddy's 119" screen and my 110", both from about 12'. You aren't likely to see pixels with 1080p, unless your eyesight is a lot better than everyone I know.

Be sure to consider the "foot" factor. I would have a hard time going bigger because my feet would block part of the screen when I recline. I WILL NOT give up my recliner.

Definitely 120" or you will be really sorry when viewing 235:1 material
