'Eastbound and Down' on HBO HD

I wasn't blown away by the first episode I'll give it one or two more before I cancel it completely. It seems to me like they're relying on the foul mouthed part too much. I just haven't been able to catch a lot of the comedy around the mouth.

The scene in the gym where he was "conversing" with the kids mystified me. Where was the humor?

Yeah I like Danny McBride but saying the "f word" every 5 seconds around kids at the school kind of takes the reality out of the show. Not sure if any principal would be cool with that. Maybe it will get better though. The end of the 1st episode was pretty good though, when he leaves school to go pick up the herpes skank from the bar and takes her on his jet ski topless, then throws her off of it and leaves her in the water. That made up for everything. That was funny. Still better than most stuff on TV.

I think the show is great. Danny McBride is awesome. If you like him, like in his movie (that Will Farrell discovered, loved, and now works with him, etc) "The Foot Fist Way," or his roles in "Pineapple Express" or "Tropic Thunder," you'll love this.

That's who this show is for. If you don't like Danny McBride or his characters in those movies, skip the show.

The show is not reality, it's a TV show. Fiction.

And as far as a principal being cool with that, that's what's so funny. The principal is so "Starstruck" by Kenny Powers that he doesn't even realize that Powers is trying to get with his fiancee right in front of him.

Not realistic that a principal would let anyone get away with his antics, but a starstruck one? I believe it, just like I believe the band geek teacher who is also starstruck, even though Powers doesn't remember him from HS.

This character is basically Danny McBride's take on John Rocker. If you are familiar with Danny McBride characters and Rocker, you get that and can appreciate it. If not, again, maybe this show isn't for you.

Its awful

I hadn't connected the character and Rocker.. but it makes sense now.

Well, that little snippet suddenly made me want to check this show out.

I thought it was pretty funny.

All I can say is I watched the first two shows and that's an hour of my life I will not get back.

Speaking of East Bound and Down, I thought Jerry Reed got died...

My wife and I have both found it laugh out loud funny. But I worry it will wind up like "Lucky Louie" going after a more blue collar situation instead of the more traditional HBO urban/upscale audience.

The scene with him on ecstasy on the dance floor had me pissing me pants. This show is hilarious.

i completely agree...the show isn't for everyone, but it's laugh out loud funny more often than not.

This show is as funny as it gets.

And its as grude as it gets.

Maybe not for everyone but I love HBO and this show alone would make me subscribe.

Will Ferrell was good last week. When he grabs Kenny's junk and Kenny says something like, "Whoa, we don't play like that.....not in my neck of the woods" Will's like "Well I do". Loved that part.

Whatever it's labeled as, it's the biggest waste of time on TV.

This show is wrong, raunchy and hilarious! It's what "Lucky Louie" tried to be and failed. It's "Californication" for the red states!

To my surprise I really like show. After the (pilot) 2/15/09 I thought I would never waste my 1/2 hour again, but I stuck wih it and now EB & D is my guilty little pleasure. Maybe like Curb Your Enthusiasm it has to grown on ya.

Give it a shot......You may find a diamond in the rough.

I pray that HBO gives this another season.

I know it offends folks but how many are like me that just can't wait till next Sunday.

This is the best show ever. Kenny Powers is a hoot.

Maybe that's my problem, I'm in a blue state. I love Californication but saw East Bound and Down yesterday and thought it was average at best.

Here's one blue stater who thinks Eastbound and Down is hysterical. I look forward to each episode. Kenny Powers is the ultimate washed up, egomaniac ex athlete. Keeping my fingers crossed we get another season.

I think part of what's funny about this show is that it makes fun of some of 'red state' culture. That's a part of McBride's schtick. I think the show is pretty funny and I've watched every episode so far. I like the character development a lot.

Btw, nothing has been as good as Curb since it came out. I'm hoping they start the new season soon.

This show's hilarious. Watched all 5 episodes back to back Monday night and it's the most I laughed in a while. Obviously it's not for everyone, as are all shows. Too bad Chapter 6 is the season (series?) finale.

This is the FUNNIEST show on television!!!!! Funnier than How I Met Your Mother or Two and a Half Men. Kenny Powers is what Charlie Harper would be if he was on HBO and not a public television station.
