Projector - down to 3 choices - thoughts?

I'm still debating on the screen size... But the throw will be from roughly 10-15 feet... with the viewing distance being 10-15 feet.

I would like to keep the PJ and screen under 1500..

After about 3 days of research I'm down to the following:

Sanyo PLV-Z700

Epson Home Cinema 720

Panasonic PT-AX200U

Thoughts? Solutions! Recommendations?

Good question.....I've seen to many complaints in the last few years, about Sanyo not standing behind their warrenty. So they would not be on list, but you are still left with 2 vary good pj's.

If your first row of seats is 10ft and you second row 15'ft the AX200 gets my vote because the smooth screen might keep the closer row from seeing screen door. Thats assuming you are in the 100 to 110 screen size. Larger screen than this, AX for sure.

A company that stands behind their warranty and a good dealer are really important in the projector market, because projectors have a higher problem rate than most TV' and much higher bulb failure rates.

An after market projector/bulb warranty should be considered, some are not priced too high for the coverage.

Good Luck

Right now I'm planning one row.. 10'... which would be better and why? also would you or someone be able to point me in some direction (specifically) about which types of screens I should be considering?

Both the epson and panasonic are great. Epson is a little more expensive, but the free bulb makes it a better deal and epson has great customer service.

The projector helps determine the screen and the screen helps determine the projector. Both have to work with each other and the room. What I mean, if you want a large 120"+ screen you either need a bright projector, a screen with some gain or a little of both. If you want an under 100" screen you do not want a screen with any gain if your projector is bright unless you want a .8 gain gray screen then you might want a brighter projector. Then there is the consideration, do you want your projector to be used in economy or standard mode. Economy mode the lamp lasts longer, less heat output and less noise.

Im leaning towards the epson... the extra bulb and reviews both seem to make it the right choice.

as for the screen. 120 would be too big for the space IMO.. is it worth it DYI when it comes to the screen?

Well if you are looking for a screen around 106" then you could use blackout cloth and make your own fixed frame screen. You can also use laminate. With blackout cloth you can make a pretty nice felt lined screen for around $100. Anything larger and I would recommend a screen with some gain.
