OK, Right now I have about had it with SONY! I had the 50 inch XBR1 LCOS TV, very nice picture. Then I had a problem which cost $100 to repair, then the bulb went out, ~$450 ish for cleaning and installation, then I got the green blob.... 4, literally, visits by the service guy with brand new guts and they gave me a refurb TV. 6 months later, it will not turn on... at 9 months, call service. For $100, they tell me the cost to repair is $1000... They suggest I buy a new XBR9 for cheap.
So, I do the research and buy the 52 inch XBR9. IT IS A PIECE OF CRAP!!!!
Now, I find it hard to believe this true, so I am hoping my DVR is broken or the TV is bad, or there is some setting that is just not right. Given all of the reviews and how the TV looked in the store, I can't believe it is this bad.
HD channels used to make me say wow.... now, it's hmmm...
If I watch an HD channel with a lot of a single color (Black, Red, Grey, Blue) you can see very large (1/4 to 1/2 inch PIXELS) as if the screen doesn't have enough colors or pixels to fill the picture. In some frames where a light is in a dark room you can see rings around the light.
I've read forums and applied all kinds of settings to make it better. It just won't go away.
The worst is watching an auto auction (which I happen to like) in HD.... there is so much problem with the screen it looks as though the HD camera lens is dirty and you can see two pictures, the dirt overlaying the normal picture.
So, my question for you experts... PLEASE help me and tell me your XBR9s do not do this and it must be my TV or my DVR..... or that they do this and the setting to fix it is.......
I'll be calling Sony monday unless you're able to help. At this point, I just want my money back.
