Or, better yet, the wireless link that will send 4HDMIs and one component up to 65' in 1080i.

So my 46 XBR9 arrived yesterday. I will take some pics this weekend and post.

The picture is unbelievable!!! Everyone I had over last night at first thought it was a plasma. They were shocked to find it was LCD.

I am a big gamer so one of the first things I hooked up was my PS3 and I can't believe how much better it even makes games look. MLB 09 already looked good on it's own but on this TV it just makes ones jaw drop.

I also spent a few hours messing around with the internet video function and am amazed at the amount of content there.

ONE thing that did NOT make me happy is... WIDGETS ARE NOT AVAILABLE YET!

Got a message telling me to check back on May 25th or After.

Other then that I am stoked and plan on a lot of TV watching and game playing this coming weekend.

TV is lighter then my last LCD and about half as thick. Truly one amazing TV and worth every dollar.

got any pics?
I think he said he'll post them this weekend. I'm semi interested if they offer a 65" version. I say "semi" because the price most likely will drive me probably to get another plasma instead.

If tv is coming out in August, pics, specs, price will leak out in June, so just hang in there a bit longer dude!

The 65" coming out isn't an XBR, but a W series.

I understand but sony has nasty habbit to sell, their crap, down the line first to max before they come out with prime time stuff. If they have a pannel, I assure you there will be a 65 inch XBR to follow may be to grab christmas sales if people have $10K to spare at that point lol

Whether it will be, good better or best or outrageously expensive? I do not know! Going by 55 inch $7k, 70 inch $20K, I would assume $10ishK, locked or unlocked lol
post #68 of 2886
If Sony does offer a new 65" XBR, you would need a winning lottery ticket to be able to afford it.

Heck, you might need one just to buy the new XBR10 or 11.
I don't see any mention of PIP in the specs for the XBR9, which is very surprising for an LCD HDTV at this price point. Can any owners confirm whether or not the XBR9 has PIP?
NO Picture in Picture feature is available on the XBR9.
You aren't the only one that isn't happy about this feature being omitted.
Another bad design move by Sony, in an attempt to cut costs and raise profit levels.

Are you using an "out if the box" picture setting ?

If so , that is a great picture , if it was tweaked , It`s still a great picture !!

I`m glad you got a good one , I hope they all are.

Fantastic PQ display ... enjoy!!! What is the broadcast source?

Best,

Yes using out of the box settings. Vivid mode on. I have not tweaked anything manually yet.

Broadcast source is Comcast digital cable box running DVI to HDMI connection.

The sources with a bar at the bottom is streaming from the bravia video stream of HD content over the network connection.

Pics taken with my DSLR so its as clear as I or anyone can show how good the XBR9 series looks.

Dude! Take it out of vivid mode! If it does not burn your eyes? Migraine is for sure!

Seens grainy or is that just because of your digital camera. I was hoping for a bit more sharpness.

trust me it's not the camara. the xbr8 and 9 has the grainyness or noise in person. I've seen it the 1st few times and gave them the benefit of the doubt perhaps from a not so good feed. But that was months ago and every xbr8 or 9 I've seen since then whether at bb or other places has those grainyness. Not a whole lot but enough to distract you and wonder why at this stage and why the xbr4/5 was clearer. It could be from the matte screen??
What shutter speed was used on the camera?

It could of looked blurry if it was too slow such that the pixels were already changing during the shot.

Try flash to see what happends. Usually another way is to pause the video and take the shot (looks like you did that for some shots).

Also, were you holding the camera taking this or it was on a tripod?

I thinking about getting a Sony myself, wished they came out with a 37" so I can put one in my room.

Has anyone set up a wireless bridge for their widgets? My modem and router are upstairs in my office and the TV is in the basement.

Just set-up my XBR9 32" last night. Other than selecting Standard picture mode, turning down the Sharpness, and turning off some of the auto settings, I've left the rest of the settings at default.

The PQ seems good to my eyes for sports and flesh tones. Has anyone had one of these calibrated yet? I'd be interested to see what changes you made to the standard settings.

Sorry to give you bad news but the 32 XBR9 is not the same as the 40'' and up models.

Has anyone previewed the sound on the XBR9 - either 52" or 46"? Interested also in how this compares to the XBR7 - mostly for listening to news and daily TV program watching (know that movies are obviously better with speaker system but just want to know overall quality of TV speakers since for daily use I plan to use internal TV speakers). Where are they located and are they downfiring? The downfiring Samsung speakers are awful.
Thanks, Rustito

My earlier posts on the second page have my review on the XBR9's speakers.
The XBR9's speakers are hidden inside at the bottom and are downfiring.
They do NOT compare to the front firing speakers of the XBR4-8.
That said, they are not as bad as I thought they would be.
They have ample sound IMO, but are just NOT as powerful, directional, and dynamic as the front firing XBR speakers.
