BD370/390 LG Blu-ray player Master/Owners thread - Page 11

I have latest firmware & driver for 370 european, and these are my first thoughts:

. Can't make AVCHD work from a thumb drive. Haven't tried a DVD yet.
. Don't have any problems with bitstreaming of DTS HD, DTS HD MA or Dolby TrueHD to my Yamaha RX-V863 (HDMI).
. Can't make my Sony TV set 1080/24p, although it works correctly with a PS3 and a WDTV.
. Can't have a thumb drive be recognized in NTFS format, although someone mentioned here it works.
. WMV doesn't work.
. Some MKV look constantly pixelated (1080p with re-frames > 4), although they work ok with WDTV (tested on a DVD-DL).

Overall, happy, but it should do more, and better.

if you format the hard drive on MAC OSX and " MS-DOS FAT 32 " you have a hard drive whith FAT 32 and no limitations of 4 gig and no limitations of HD 2TB disk

if LG DB370 reconize this HD ,that´s all !

you have a FAT 32 formated disk and no limitations at all.

Thank you for this info, husak1970

Can anyone please confirm husak1970's statement? Has anyone tried yet?

I just picked up a 370 at BB in FL. It was the open box table with everything but the box. Got out the door for $137.00! I also picked up a bdp-1500 for $106.00! I have used my PS3 for Blu and have been happy with it but for the $$$ I could not pass this up. I was not looking for this and had not reviewed the units; So to be safe I got both of them. After reviewing and testing both I will keep the 370 and sell the 1500 to a buddy. The 370 is a great player! I had been using my Xbox 360 for Netflix. Now I just need to replace the Harmony I sold because it would not work on the PS3....

I just tested if WMP11 DLNA service on an XP machine would be picked up from the LG BD390 and it seems to work well. The upgrade seemed to fix the black screens on DVDs for me as well, so if LG keeps up the support hopefully more features will be added.

It's true that formating a drive as FAT32 on OS X gets around the Windows volume size limit, but file size on any FAT32 volume is still limited to 4GB.

A new firmware update is available for the BD370 which gives you access to Cinema Now. Just download via the s/w updates for your machine.

Just an update to my previous post regarding issues with "micro stuttering" when streaming netflix at 1080p on my BD370.

The latest firmware update made it worse, but the new driver update cured it completely.

I'm hoping with the next firmware update the USB port will move to the back of the unit....
The firmware update cured issues I was having with 4:3 DVDs. Hurray!

Considering the new 390 for the Wireless N support for Netflix and to play movies on hard drives attached to my computer.

I am wondering how the wireless works, whether it can stream HD video cleanly. Also, what is the likelihood that it will later get a firmware upgrade to expand the codecs? All of my HD camcorder stuff is in a MOV format and I don't want to have to convert everything. Thanks!

Am running a g network. The base station is about 30 feet - actually the other end of the house - from the 390. Netflix HD worked fine for the two movies I watches. I was able to stream a divx movie as well from the server - though this was not in HD (720x480). Overall very very happy with the 390 - no noise and works as advertised. If there is one -ve I would say the picture and menus seem to be a tad coarser than my PS3 - but not enough that that I want to go back to the PS3.

Thanks for that info. A follow-up question: if I have movie files on a hard drive simply attached to my computer (which, of course, is connected to my N router), will the BD390 be able to find that drive, or do you need a server, etc. Also, is the interface for negotiating through the network pretty easy?

I am using tversity for this. It has the ability to stream Hulu which I watch once in a while. Only set it up a few days ago. Been working ok so far.
I just checked out Tversity and it looks very cool. I see I can try it with my Wii, but I believe the video quality would not be very good running through that console. So, it looks like the idea is to link your video content into a "library" and then you simply direct the BD390 to tversity? Very cool.

So you still can forget about playing 12gb 1080p MKV files over the wireless N network with this player or is that just not possible with the USB harddrive you would want to connect to the 370/390 LG player?
The player does see NTFS volumes but you cannot make an NTFS volume with Max OS X. That does not have the 4 GB size limitations of FAT 32.

Mine can't?!

I have a:

BD370-P
driver : H42301
sw: V4.090.00.24

It can't see a Windows XP formatted NTFS drive! What should I do to make it work?

Very cool.

Do you know when the new LG HTIBs will come out? Looking specifically at the one with wireless rear speakers.

I guess it might only be a feature on the BD390 as mine sees a WD 250GB passport external hard drive that is NTFS formatted using Vista. In the BD390 book it says NTFS is supported and I guess the BD370 does not?

If the 390 does support NTFS volumes and lets you play 12gb MKV files over the network that would be a very cool feature. Can anyone confirm this?

Do these players stream Youtube HD videos?

Anybody have a problem playing My Bloody Valentine Blu-Ray on the LG BD390?
I keep getting a disc read error on it.

No..
The Youtube feature is average IMO. The player can not find all videos on Youtube for some reason, some that play on my PC the LG can't find or wont load. That plus no HD videos sucks. Otherwise the BR player and Netflix work great :P

The statement about "No HD Videos" on You Tube is false. I own the BD390 and I watch plenty of You Tube videos in HD.

For example, first do a search for the video "Panic Switch" by Silversun Pickups. Then do a search for "Panic Switch HD". Obviously not every video is also available in HD, but I've had zero problems finding every video on my PC on my 390.

I cannot speak for the LG BD370 since I do not own that player, but I can verify with 100% certainty that the LG BD390 does.

I just got an LG BD370 and am generally pleased with it with two exceptions:

[1] The "loading" animated disc logo sure seems to stay up there a long time (longer than my PS3....)

[2] When I hit "stop" while watching a DVD, then hit "play", the disc starts up at the beginning, not where I left off. Very annoying, since I end up having to sit through the FBI WARNING before skipping to where I was.

Am I missing something?

That's strange - mine loads faster than the PS3 and resumes fine even if I eject the disc. Do you have the latest firmware and all?
Anyone having any playback problems with Blu-Ray movies on the LG BD390 yet?
I am having a problem with the My Bloody Valentine Blu-Ray it just loads and gives me an error message.
I have the latest firmware update and this is a brand new copy of the movie. I exchanged for another brand new copy and same thing happens.
I have tried other Blu-Ray movies and they play fine.
