I am having a problem with the My Bloody Valentine Blu-Ray it just loads and gives me an error message.
I have the latest firmware update and this is a brand new copy of the movie. I exchanged for another brand new copy and same thing happens.
I have tried other Blu-Ray movies and they play fine.

I have a problem with another different movie, Horton Hears a Who. I needed to set Disc Menu to Original instead of my language for it to start properly. It's the only BD problem I have, but I don't have your movie. Maybe you could give it a try?

Where in the menus are the HD vidoes? Also on the PC you can go to youtube.com/shows. Is that option available? Thanks

Hi! I tried setting the disc menu to original and it still giving me a disc read error on My Bloody Valentine. This is a new release so maybe they will release a firmware update for some new blu rays in the near future.
Anyone having Blu-Ray playback problems on any discs?

The answer to your You Tube HD Video question is back 1 page in the thread. I haven't tried searching for tv shows via You Tube on the 390, so no comment on that as of yet.

Hi, I'm delighted with my BD370, mkv playback from usb external (Fat32) is great. Just wondering if anybody has tried BD-R / BD-RE playback on the 370 yet.
Regards John

Yep. Upgraded the firmware. Maybe it was just a problem with the one disc (The Dark Knight)...others seem to be better.

Yes I see how Netflix HD works but was not able to get youtube to work in HD. Also does Netflix only stream HD if the wifi meter they display indicates full strength? Mine is usually a couple bars less than full and last night was trying to watch Father of the Bride and it was not doing HD. Thanks.

I have read in this thread about being able to play MKV files on the BD370 through a USB flash memory stick, but I can't figure out why it won't work for me. I have my memory stick formatted as FAT32 and almost all of my video files are x264 1080p. Where would I go in the menus to play these files? Any suggestions?

Only European BD370 works with MKV/DIVX files...

For example, first do a search for the video "Panic Switch" by Silversun Pickups. Then do a search for "Panic Switch HD". Obviously not every video is also available in HD, but I've had zero problems finding every video on my PC on my 390.

hmmm. maybe its just the 370?

example-
Mariah Carey-"Vision of Love" music video, will play on my PC but the 370 can't find it.

There are a bunch of others that don't work either, so maybe its a 370 issue but I doubt it.

How is the 390 for hooking up to Wifi? I've had horrible luck hooking up my Samsung 3600, with WPA PSK security enabled. The only fix I've found was to drop my security, which is less than ideal. I'm curious if this player might be a better option.
The BD390 was easy to setup with my trendnet wireless N router using WPA2 PSK AES. It did have one problem in that it did not take my full 63 letter password and had to simplify it down to 15 but it will take more but not sure where it stops before 63.

hello everyone,
new guy here, i want to pull the trigger on the 370 hopefully tomorrow, ive been researching and found this thread to be the most helpful.
i consider myself fairly knowledgeable in a/v terms and functions but i need some help with my decision
im considering this player because of the price 249. and the fact that it has the coaxial output, i also have an lg lcd

first of my questions are audio related
i have an older sony receiver (ht-ddw790) without hdmi, so id be running hdmi direct to the tv and audio from the player to the receiver via coaxial,
the receiver has 5.1 dolby PL2
will this cause any problems as far as missing audio channels or worse, non compatibility all together?

secondly, i have no interest in bdlive netfix or youtube
would it be better to keep the player connected for updates via lan line or just bounce the updates with a flash drive, reason being i dont want menus or connections related to live/netflix/tube slowing down the player, if those functions can be turned off or do not add any load time let me know

also as far as firmware updates go do they run automatically or are there prompts

i can hopefully provide any other specs needed to answer these, thanks in advance for any help/suggestions

First, audio: Your receiver can decode DTS, so you can tell BD370 to recode every content (DD, DD TrueHD, DTS HD, DTS HD MA) to come out as DTS. No problem there.

Second, BDLive: You can force BD370 to block all BDLive access; ask your permission everytime; allow always. No problem there, just select BLOCK ALL.

Third, Updates: You can update from LAN or downloadable firmware in a USB thumb if you like, so no problem there too. Even if you're always connected thru LAN, the player asks your permission to upgrade, it doesn't upgrade without your knowledge.

i just bought the LG BD370 i set the 1080p display mode to 24hz but when i play blu-ray movies the tv says it's playing at 60hz. any ideas what the problem is?
i have the BAUHN 42 inch tv and my previous samsung bd-1500 would play the movies at 24hz.
also if i do the DivX registration can i still play my own DivX stuff on the player?

I just moved from using my PS3 ad my primary BluRay player to an LG BD370.

I'm baffled (and embarassed) by my inability to figure out something as simple as how to resume play after stopping the disc.

If I press stop while watching a movie discs start back at the very beginning (FBI warning) when play is pressed. Same thing happens if movie is paused for more than a couple minutes.

Am I missing something really obvious or do I have a defective unit?
Never experienced this issue with the PS3...

Thanks.

Hi, everyone, new guy here.

I need some serious help. I wasn't planning on buying a Blu-Ray player anytime soon, but when I heard that the BD370 could play MKV files I changed my mind. The problem is, information over the net about the American version MKV playability of the BD370 has become conflicting at best. Some say it doesn't play MKV at all, that only the European version does; others say that it only doesn't play MKV through the USB port or if it does, it won't play files larger than 4 GB; and others say that after the latest firmware update it plays all sizes of MKV, both on DVDRs and through the USB port. In many of these posts the person reporting clearly states that they in fact don't own the American version. So what I really need is that someone who actually owns the latest firmware updated American version to clarify this question once and for all.

In advance, I thank you very, very much.

P.S. I know the BD390 plays MKV, but I think it's a little too expensive right now.

I am curious about codec support for the BD390. Can someone point me to a page which lists them? I am hoping to be able to play my home videos straight off my computer's hard drive without having to convert them (they are in MOV right now).

I am getting a little tired of having to cycle thru the Audio on most movies to get it to play sound on my Yamaha 665 form my LG 370. I am only a week away from my 30 days from BB and was hoping for a firmware update from LG. I am now thinking about exchanging it for the 390 since them have some in stock but I don't know if I will use the additional features. Is the audio issue the same on both players? From reading the post I am not the only one having these issues.

I think LG released a firmware that addressed this issue. The firmware was released about two weeks ago. Other users have posted that the update cured their audio drop-outs. I'm not sure if they were having the same issue though.

So can someone clearify something for me. With the 390 am I able to hook up an Seagate external hard drive to it and it be able to read it fine? Also I watch a lot of mkv anime. Does it read the subtitles good? Can someone confirm? If everything works i'll pull the trigger on this tonight

Those updates seemed to have fixed the DTS-HD issue I was having as well.

Hi All, I'm just about to buy a BD390 but can someone confirm 2 things,

Does it play MP4 video files??

Can it play media files (like MKV,Divx) off a DVD-R data disk??
I have the current updates (including Cinemanow) but I am still having issues, last night I played Marly & Me and the HD decoder light kept flashing on and off on the receiver and the sound was intermittent until I cycled thru the audio options which fixed the problem.

I would exchange it for another one if you are with in 30 days. I haven't had any issues like that and would try a new unit to see if the problem is still there.

I have been able to play MP4 files, MKV and Divx from a disc and from a USB flash Drive. I can only stream divx and vob files from the computer. I have had no luck with AVCHD DVD+DL discs working, but have had luck with single layer DVD-r and BD-r. Everything else works great. With the latest firmware update, I have been very happy. If they can get AVCHD DVD+DL discs working, this would be perfect.

Thanks for your answer!, By any chance do you know if it also plays video files (Mp4 mkv divx) from DVD-RW without any trouble?

Hello,

I just purchased the BD390 and I'm having wireless issues. I own a D-Link DGL-4500 router have a 7mb/sec DSL connection through quest. The only way I can get a solid and fast internet connection without the dreaded (internet congestion error) is to hook my modem straight up to the 390 and bypass the router. I think I may need a new router to benefit the expanded wireless N speeds, has anyone had these problems?
I've had my 390 for about a month now and have discovered I need to turn off my laptop to get a really good connection. Other than that I'm pretty happy with it as I can watch Netflix & YouTube without too much trouble. I'm about 30 ft from the router.
