My brother tried to feed a 96kHz sample rate to a receiver that could only handle 48kHz, it was muted when he pushed play.

I may be wrong, but I believe the default track is authored into the movie and not arbitrarily selected by the player. So if the player is not selecting the HD track then you have to go into setup and make this selection.

I have a Patriot Box Office Media player that uses a lot of the codes of my bdp-83 and totally screw up my IR. Is there a way to set the 83 to a different IR code set? If so, HOW.

I sent my 83 in about 5 weeks ago, I had a bad loader and when Oppo received it the loader was replaced and it was sent back the next day. Oppo provided excellent customers service you just don't see with the big manufacturers. Just be sure someone is there to sign for it when you receive it back.
