no signal on RCA DTA800

correctly hooked up my DTA800 today and the screen tells me there is "no signal, unable to tune to this channel. Try adjusting the antenna......etc". We have a roof top antenna that is nearly new and works very well in the TV itself. Somehow I do not think the antenna (which is rather difficult to get to for some adjustment) is what's wrong here.

We're in the San Fernando Valley area of L.A. Is it possible there are no digital broadcasts right now?

I'd appreciate any ideas...

Go to http://TVFool.com

Put in your address, height of your antenna. Then save the image under digital only , then again under post transition digital only, and post them here.

It's possible you antenna is pointed the wrong way for digital stations, too far, etc.

Way too many possibilities to guess. The TVFool info is what we need.

Please no offense but have you checked your connections? There are two coax plugs on converter boxes (one for antenna input and one for output). Perhaps you inadvertantly connected the antenna input to the wrong coax plug on the converter box? Easy enough to do, just asking....

Best,

Rick

Looks pretty darned good to me.

When you do a channel scan, does it show stations being found?

It doesn't go as far as making a scan. The screen just tells me "no signal found" and nothing else can be done beyond that screen.

Are you shure you have an antenna connected to the RF IN port?

But can you press the menu button and initiate a scan? If I remember right, the RCA boxes are not automatic like the Zenith is.

Sorry about all the hysterics.........I found the 'menu' button reference in the instructions so all is well, box working fine, good pictures, lots of channels, and all seems to work except that the 'mute' button brings up the 'caption' panel. I'll probably figure out how to fix that soon.........
thanks for feed back and help here

Great news! Remember to rescan if any of your stations change the frequency they transmit at, or if you get a new station.
