Yes, it seems like Samsung has not manufactured the 1600 consistently. That's the way I see it.

If there's one thing I've learned from this forum for sure that is it.

I've actually been secretly hoping that my 1600 would die so I'd have an excuse to buy a player that supports Amazon streaming, but it just keeps on going!

Actually I just wish Samsung would drop the Blockbuster service and replace it with Amazon.

There is a new firmware available at the Samsung site. It's still the 2.15 version but it has a 3/4/11 release date and the size of the USB firmware is 71 MB instead of the 37 MB the previous USB release was. I'm going to install the update and see how it goes.
Update: Nothing has changed when I installed the firmware posted today on the Samsung website, I still have problems playing new Blu-ray discs from "Fox." My player was capable of playing those titles before.

Bricked my 1600 too going from 2.13 to 2.15. I've had no other problems with this player for 2 years and have done multiple FW updates. I'll likely send the unit in Monday if unable to find any other fix. They said they'll send a refurb if unable to fix mine

Very interesting, wonder if they determined the last update was bad and pulled it; there's no other references to it on their webpage. Since my player is now stuck at "LOAD" I don't think I can install this again, but at least giving it a shot before mailing in my player for repair.

Interestingly the Canadian site lists the USB version at 37MB and the CDROM version at 71MB...? the date there is back in February.

On 02/26/11 I downloaded BEv2.15_110221_BDP1600_XAA.RUF @40,961 KB

On 03/04/11 I downloaded BEv2.15_110221_BDP1600_XAA.RUF @81,921 KB

I have not installed either one. I don't like bricks.

Samsung has proven many times that they cannot be trusted to post accurate upgrades.

Caveat emptor!
Yes. They changed 2.15 XEF to bigger file without any notice.

That confirms that they just killed my device. Who will pay for it? I guess me ) Repair costs about 100$ in my city. New models of LG costs 30$ more. Funny choice )

Hmm. Since the version number is still the same I wonder if it will show up as a newer version for network update?

Then again, the version I got via network update might be fine, and maybe only the usb/cd versions needed to be fixed.

So confusing.

I've got mine via network without any issues, so far.

Red, what version are you running now, 2.15 IIRC?
Yes, 2.15. I got it via network update when it was first released.

Now I'm wondering if I should grab the larger file that was just updated on the 4th. When I check for an update through the System menu it tells me I have the latest version.

EDIT: I just chatted with a Samsung tech and he said there is no difference between the 2.15 released via network update in Feb and the one on the website now.

And FWIW, he said 2.15 was released to fix playback of a "certain title" as well as fix problems with YouTube and Pandora.

I generally grab the F/W updates and store them for future considerations...

Does anyone have 2.13 that I can try to get back to on my 1600?
...or know where to grab it?
I have 2.13 XEF but there's no way back. Samsung removed this possibility on TV's also.

Samsung uploaded new 2.15 XEF file today. So it's already the third edition. Somebody killed their devices after second 2.15?

The Other Guys DVD

Last night I watched the recent release The Other Guys on DVD from Netflix. The movie skipped throughout, and it always happened at scene cuts or chapter changes. It was very strange. I reversed the movie a few times after a skip and it would do the same thing. I've never had problems with a DVD on the 1600 before; all my problems have been with BDs.

Audio sync issues still not fixed.

I'm still having the same audio issues on 2.15 when I use Audiophile mode. It works fine most of the time, but occasionally it jumps out of sync by a second or two and I have to reverse the movie for a few seconds in order to get it back on track.

So far with 2.15 this has happened with Toy Story and Star Trek TOS Season 2.

Set to PCM mode. This solved the issue for me on the 1600 and 3600 models.

I don't have an HDMI receiver so I'm stuck with Audiophile or Re-encode if I want surround.

I'm having a continuing problem with my BD-P1600. I searched here but can't find an answer.

Running latest version of FW (BEv2.15_110221_XAA). No issues playing DVD's but having the following problems when streaming Netflix:

1) I power up the unit and select a streaming video to play. The video buffers but about 50% of the time there will be audio but video is blank (dark screen). If I cycle power and re-buffer the movie it will stream normally after several such attempts.

2) Once I'm watching a Netflix video, if I pause playback for longer than 5 minutes, so that the display returns to a Netflix menu, if I then try to resume playback about 50% of the time the display will go blank although audio is normal.

This feels like a firmware problem but has been present since the player was new. It effects only the Samsung unit, and playback via my computer is problem free.

This problem is annoying enough that I'm about to buy a Roku unless I can fix the Samsung. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
I suppose that could be a player issue but it might also be something in your network. I've never seen that type of problem with Netflix on my 1600, regardless of firmware version.

Are both your 1600 and your computer connected to your network the same way? Do you use static IP addresses?

Both Samsung and iMac are connected to a wireless network. iMac connects to an AP Extreme base station, and the Samsung is further away and connected by an AP Express router in bridge mode. IP's are assigned via DHCP from the routers and are dynamic.

There is never any symptom of a network problem or loss of connectivity where the Samsung is connected. A Samsung TV and an AVR are also connected to the AP Express and never a problem.

Looks like it could be a problem with your 1600 then.

Wonder if anyone has successfully connected the 1600 to a wireless router with other than the Samsung dongle? No way will I spend $60 or whatever they want for it. I could run a cable (my 1600 is about 12 feet from my router) but would obviously prefer a wireless connection. FWIW, I have the firmware that came with the unit, 2.05, and have never had a problem playing DVDs or BluRays. I have not yet connected to the internet.
My 1600 heralded the new 2.16 firmware update last night so I let it install via the network. Installation was quick and successful. Now to see what, if anything, was fixed.

I am using a Rosewill RNX-N1 which I bought from NewEgg about a year ago for $30 and it works. I don't know if they are still available and which, if any, newer model works. Search this thread for rosewill and you will find some info on it.
