Basement/Kitchen Situation

Thread Starter
i dont know whats wrong with me but i cant seem to come up with a simple answer to my situation.

i have a 5.1 projector setup in my basement.
i am looking at purchasing the onkyo 606 in a couple days.
i have a pc in the basement with itunes.

i want to add speakers upstairs in the kitchen area so that i can listen to the music from the itunes in the basement.

i think this is my solution:

connect pc to onkyo
onkyo zone 2 speaker wire to kitchen
control pc itunes with ipod touch remote app

does this sound right?

also, what if i wanted to run pc in basement to display on kitchen lcd? what would i need to run so i can keep wireless keyboard and mouse in kitchen?

would a usb extender be sufficent to extend from basement to kitchen and plug in mouse and keyboard?

or am i totally off!!!

Cannot help you with the audio side, but for the pc in the kitchen, your plan with USB extenders sounds good (they made one that uses cat5 for long run and dongles that convert back to USB at each end, great for keyboard and mouse)

Look at these guys, you should be able to do all over Cat5e.

Don't forget about a way to control the volume on the receiver.

Universal remote with an rf station, ir repeater kit, set zone2 to a fixed output and use a volume control in the wall.
