Do you like the Aiming System in Killzone 2? - Page 10

I have no problems with the controls. It's different, and like others said, it resembles BF:BC to a point.

I'll be honest though, I was scared in the first hour of playing that I wouldn't get used to the controls, but after an hour or two playing I was able to able to become acclimated to them. I was only able to log in 5 or 6 hours of playing this weekend, but don't see any issues (spent the rest of my time leveling up in COD4 with double XP).

It's a different type of shooter. I welcome that. I'm growing tired of the rest.

Those that don't like it, feel free to return the game. Problem solved.

Those that keep it, add me as a friend if you want to play. Love to play with some people that will strategize to a point in MP.

What I like about the controls is that the people that don't like them will be gone shortly. And the people that don't like them are primarily run and gunners. Good riddance. Slightly off topic, for tomorrows breakfast I'm cheffing up an egg, turkey bacon and waffle sandwich.. do I use salt, pepper, ketchup or maple syrup? This is the debate that will bother me all day.

Very happy to see that the trolling of this forum cannot be corralled anymore since the all-knowing wise one went on his rant about what was "best for the forum." Yes, things are so much better now with all of the immature fighting and bickering

Also very giddy to see that the so-called "majority" of people who find issues with KZ2 are names that rarely post in the PS3 forums or were very infrequent until the past few weeks. How quaint? There is absolutely nothing "broken" with the controls. To argue otherwise is pretty much an exercise in ridiculousness.

14+ hours logged of MP. 1.38-ish KDR. I aim through my sights and kill you while you complain about it not being like CoD. Oh, and I had a similar KDR in CoD, but I don't remember the exact number. Perhaps 1.18 or so. Probably because it aim assists you once you get the opposition in your sights. Oops, those days are gone. Too bad, so sad.

Anyway, I'll be on my way and let the ignorance continue...hopefully GG doesn't change a thing once they realize who the people are that are doing all of the complaining. If they want to add the ability to go prone or the feature of full button-mapping, cool. But don't change what makes this the best shooter on the market right now.

Let the idiot trolls and fanboys complain til they lose their voices and decide to go back to playing CoD. Or just wait til Halo Wars comes out and notice how the complaining is reduced by 75%.

Good day,

Oh, and nice to see some of you guys again (JD, Tyrant, etc)

So what you really want is to play Halo, correct?

I have MAJOR lag in the menu screens. I mean HUGE. I think all of you do, too, you just don't notice because it's just the menu screens?

Try toggling tabs quickly. Your finger will be off the button before the tab changes.

I definitely don't see that level of lag in the online game itself. If I did, it would be completely unplayable.

On another note, I tried what another poster suggested: trying to make a perfect circle with the reticle.

It's IMPOSSIBLE. At any speed. You just can't do it. If you don't believe me, try it for yourself and post your results.

Lag on the menu screen. Wow. Just Wow.

I guess people really do find anything to complain about.

I can't make a perfect circle with an Etch-a-Sketch, either. Does that mean it's broken, too?

Reminds me of one of the very first complaints I saw about the full version of the game: someone was complaining about "screen tearing" in the menu screens.

The movement of the gun is fine. I can't make a perfect circle with a pencil, let alone video game controller or computer mouse.

It's the input lag that several are experiencing that is the problem.

I guess that makes me a stupid run and gun Halo Xbot fanboy (even though I primarily play my PS3) and actually like KZ2 more than Halo if not for this single issue.

Yo... Halo already is an epic failure in my eyes. I picked up Halo 3, played for a couple of days and then got rid of it. I couldn't stand it. That's my opinion (which like a lot of people in this thread said I am entitled to) so I sold it. End of story... no bitching or complaining from me. I just got rid of it cuzz I thought it was boring.
Just played through the first level on vet. As I said before I don't love or hate the controls. It is what it is. I do like them better with the sensitivity bumped up. I notice no input lag, after reading some of the complaints I was actually looking for it. So far so good.

I'm glad my car doesn't control like this pos. Otherwise I and many others would be in a lot of trouble

How am I losing credibility?

I have played in CSS, Halo, and CoD leagues for years, as well as dozens of other first person shooters for 10+ years. I have been waiting for KZ2 to drop since it was announced for the PS3, and I want nothing more than for this game to succeed.

Let's ignore the controls themselves, as Alt Layout 2 is perfectly fine IMO. Let's focus on the aiming system itself.

If Halo 4 came out and had a major dead zone like KZ2 does, Halo fans would flip. It WOULD be considered an epic fail, especially if Bungie/MS denied it or refused to fix it.

That was my statement, and it sounds completely credible to me.

No, I want to play KZ2. I sold my Xbox 360 long ago in hopes of the PS3 bringing insane FPS titles like KZ2 to the table to fill my needs. Unfortunately, this game has done nothing but frustrate me with its massive dead zone in the analog sticks. And then we have you clowns denying the problem even exists, so it'll probably never get fixed. I'm trying my best to be a PS3/KZ2 fanboy, but the developers and you supporters make it really hard, claiming everything is just dandy.

My opinion: I do not like the aiming system because:

- Acceleration feels off to me
- X-Axis and Y-Axis do not move in a 1:1 ratio
- There is a clear delay between analog stick movement and on-screen crosshair movement

If you honestly don't notice anything wrong with the aiming system, please view these videos:

You cannot deny that there are several flaws with this aiming system. These videos really put it into perspective for me.

Thank you Whoady4Shoady. Hopefully your hard work won't go unrecognized.

How did I guess that the body of this poll would have been negative toward the question

The game is unique- that makes it a huge candidate for Game of the Year imo

I have not one complaint about this game. FTW

I cant believe this thread isnt locked yet with all the whining and bi***ing going on. Must be because XBOTS unite.

^ We are PS3 owners complaining about the title that was supposed to be the end-all first person shooter of the year... nobody here is an xbot... we are just being realistic and pointing out a flaw that is holding this game back. if you can't even realize that your right analog stick has a massive dead zone, then i really don't know how to help you...

So, he isn't really enjoying the game as-is, he only THINKS he's enjoying it.

Gotcha.

This thread is still open so that we don't bog down the main thread with this nonsense.

Frank_in_Beans!!! What's up man? How's the noggin today? That rocket kicked your butt a couple of times last night

You'll be glad to know that I will not be using the rocket launcher anymore. You get 3 rockets and then its pistol time, not fun

p.s. how do the controls really feel to you?

Nope. Just noted it. If you re-read my post, nowhere in there do I say that the controls are 'broken'.

I wasn't complaining about anything. Just noting that there is lag in some parts of the game since I read people saying that they're 100% lag free.

Maybe I'm the only one? Who knows. It's annoying when I'm trying to fire off 8 squad invites in the 30 seconds before the next round starts but I'm not gonna bitch and moan about it. Just post about it here to see if others experiencing it, too.

LOL, I spawned on you a couple times and your in a balcony blowing people up with rockets. And then when I went to lower ground I'd hear people complaining about it.

I said this earlier in the thread that I personally have VERY LITTLE dead zone on either analog stick. Whoady's video showed he has a lot of it, but I didn't. If I BARELY move the stick, guess what, my cross hair on the screen moves with it. I am not noticing this said "Humongous OMG! Epic Fail! the sky is falling!" dead zone that you and a few others have experienced. There are others who experience the same thing I have as well, but we are just liars and "PS3 Fanboys" that are blocking the way for GG to make a patch for something that isn't broken (IMO).

Do I have to be the one to point out how unrealistic it was to subscribe to the "end-all first person shooter of the year" hype?

There's your problem right there. It's just a game man. One from a particularly bad franchise from the PS2 days.

If it's not your beans, trade it in for something better unless/until they fix it to your prerogative. Until then, we'll be happily enjoying it. LAIR had a very steep control adjustment period due to the motion use, but it also wasn't "fundamentally broken". People then who didn't like it said so, and moved on. People that could handle it (I guess i'm the only one) completed it and enjoyed it.

Why such the outrage for a game you can ebay/craigslist/ect and then go play something better (in your opinion).

My apologies man. There's been so much complaining in here that I didn't realize you were asking it as a question.

Everything about the game blows my mind, including the graphics, physics, AI, everything. My ONLY complaint is about the aiming system, particularly the dead zone on the right analog stick. I am just dumbfounded how some people in this thread cannot acknowledge this as a problem. It doesn't matter if the dead zone is small or large, I cannot name a single other FPS that even has a dead zone!!! It's like running a 5-speed with only 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear. Maybe you can run your car this way, but it would be better for your car and those who drive it if your 1st and 2nd gear worked correctly!

Believe me, I want this to be GOTY, I DO. But I just do not think it will happen with 2/3 of the people around the net complaining about the aiming system. That is all I am trying to point out. I really hope Guerilla Games fixes the dead zone issue. This will not negatively affect anyone who even currently likes the aiming system; it will help EVERYONE out, trust me.
