I bought this tv about a year or two ago. Today, my sister said that she heard a little pop from the tv and the picture stopped but the audio still ok. This is already out of the manufacture warranty. The blue and red light was flashing in the front which means according to the manual: "abnormal operation of busline. (light engine)." So the popped the cover for the lap and pulled it out. The glass part inside the buld itself has shattered. There is no burn marks. The outlet block that the TV was connected to didn't have surge protection.
Could this burst lamp be caused by a surge or just the TV being used alot (about 12 hrs/day) or could there be something wrong else do with the TV? Should I just buy a bulb and hope that nothing's wrong with TV that'll cause the new lamp to burst aswell?
I checked the website that the manual referred to (ceaccessories.toshiba. com). The price is about $220. Is there a place that you guys prefer? Hopefully something cheaper. How many hours are the lifetime of these lamps? Where do you guys buy your replacement lamps?
Thanks
