The Sammy is $100 more and has terrible speakers. Is there any reason to go with the Sammy?

This accusation is false in my opinion. I had this set since September plus an AV reveiver with decent speakers available to me at any time. I find the set's speakers very acceptable. To get the best out of them I selected MUSIC for the audio setting.

None of the sets from the factory have what I would consider very good sound. I don't understsand how people can have a big screen set up with the stock speakers, as the sound is at least 40% if not more of the experience.

As to the Sammy speakers, hundreds of reviewers made them their #1 con about the unit. Does anyone have an opinion about the 2 TV's?

Based on reviews, the Sammy is the better display. IMO, you should be using external speakers anyway.

One thing the 535u has that the 550 doesnt is srt. It will improve your picture when viewing 480/720 and dvd sources.

If possible find a place you can compare with similiar picture settings.

uhhh the set speakers are AWFUL. One of the worst for sure...

Anyone with a good sized LCD should opt for an avr receiver and some decent speakers.

A soundbar can also be a good option.

I have the 535U and the speakers are ok. They are no better/worse than any other TV speakers I have used. IMO SRT is crap, it really is just edge enhancment. However SD on mine looks great with it off. I have just basic cable and I was very suprised at how good the picture was.

I have played with them all. To me it really just looks like someone cranked the sharpness. But like I said SD looks great so I really don't have an issue with it.
