Convert ATI Digital Cable Tuner from External to Internal

I made a thread on TheGreenButton forums seen here ( http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/1/3...howThread.aspx ) but I was wondering if anyone here had any input to the situation. Basically I am trying to figure out if anyone here has converted their external CableCard tuners to internal ones seeing as how they just put the internal card into the external box seen here ( http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2959&p=4 ). The issue seems to be the bracket, and the power and USB connections.

Well you must know that you will completely void any warranty through your Vendor not only on the tuners themselves but probably the entire machine. My experience with these tuners after installing about 6 or so cablecard ready systems is that the internal tuners are highly prone to failure, but the externals are not and the main reason for that is heat. The external devices are built much better, and stand on their own with proper venting.... is the case you want to put these in big enough and cool enough? They are kindof big and ugly aren't they.

They arent that big, and I was going to put those like PCI Fan type things inbetween them, its just having 4 tuners all just sitting out on it I would like to hide at least 2 of them.

well the layout compared to the internal cards is different... the thing has additional parts on top that are for input, and afaik the power is external so you'll probably want to open up a pci slot cover or put holes in one to run the power inside the cage. what case is this going into? i've built most of the systems im responsible for in the omaura tf11 and tf8.... and theres not really enough comfortable room in the tf11 i know for sure to make that happen very nicely.

so.. need more input:

what case are you using now, and whats already inside the box?

have you cracked open an external ocur yet?
