Sorry i didn't get back with you Brandon. Sounds like you got it squared away. Do you need a HPF too?

The phono pre amp didn't work either. It was cleaner, but still sounded dirty. It's got the RIAA eq built into it. Like I said, I'll probably just need to get a direct box or a feedback destroyer. I've ran out of home remedies. Anyone know of a cheap option that way? Can get a 1124p for $99 new or there is someone on my local craigslist that has one. May go that route. Anyone have one they don't mind parting with cheaply? Don't know anything about direct boxes except the principal of how they work.

Not running a HPF. There are only a couple movies that I have that have substantial bass below my tuning freq. I don't watch movies very loud so I'm not very worried.

if you guys can put together a little fund for shipping for me, i can ship you a TL.118SS complete system. its good with about 2500 watts, really shins with 4000+. Should be really good on music, and decent for HT (tuned in the low 20's) Would really be interesting if anyone had a Danley tapped horn too.

Freight would be a few hundred, i'll just pallet the thing. I need it back tho! it's $3500 MSRP.

Kyle,
What's a TL.118SS? Something using one of those nasty 18" Neo PA drivers hopefully? Do tell.

Brandon,

Are we looking at the 18th of April tentatively? I could do that date and MJG100 says he could and you said that it looked ok for you which is most important. Bosso, Robert Charles, RightBrained and MGBoy are all tentatives pending on date confirmation. John J. possibly shipping a sub for evaluation pending on the date as well.

Looks like this may get out of control quick. Do you run REW and do you use the room that you had in mind for the listening sessions for audio normally?

Looking at the 18th. Trying to get the following Sunday off work to recover. Have a feeling that after repeatedly lifting couple hundred pound subs might get me a bit tired.

This is the same room I usually listen in. It was a two car garage that we finished into a bonus room when we moved in about three years ago. Will try to get some pics of the room to post. I am not a camera person at all. I have an old 3 MP camera that's pictures are not that great. Will post some tonight.

A little worried. I am a little out of sorts for a southerner in that I am a huge notre dame fan. This is the dominating theme in the room.

That's good that you normally listen in there so that you know how things sound in there. Do you run REW? I'm asking because it would help out a lot if you know what the best spot to place a sub in that room was prior to the GTG.

You work Sundays?

I've got REW but haven't tried running it ever. Might try giving it a shot this weekend if I can get my amp working right. Since my sub is so large my wife has had a bit of WAF issues with the sub. It's sitting directly behind my sofa now and, while it gives the shaking very nicely, it lacks in overall response. It's just hard to find the most optimal spot for such a large sub. And it's not nearly as large as some of the subs you guys have. We've only re-made this room into a game room in the past month or so. Need to get around and do some floor crawling to see if I can find the best spot. I can have all that done by the time of the meet.

When I post the pics this afternoon I will try to have a date set and update the first post. Then we'll start a list of who's coming for sure and what they're bringing. Was thinking to try to limit to the first 10-15 or so people. Sound like a good number? Don't want to be overloaded with subs either, but I think we'd be able to start early and finish late if needs be.

Yeah, unfortunately I had to start working Sundays again. I'm in government work (Police, Fire and Medical 911 dispatch trainer in Nashville) and we do shift work. We're always open. Someone with a bit more time than me came to my shift and it took me off of Sat/Sun off and got bumped back to Fri/Sat. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. Sundays are a lot slower than the rest of the week. The most of the calls involve people getting into the spirit of the lord a bit too heavily and needing an ambulance after their experience.

Sorry guys for not posting anything tonight. Had to work sixteen hours today and I am beat. Had some computer problems at work and they needed some extra people so I gave in at the last minute. We will have a date set by tomorrow guaranteed.

Did get a call from a guy who has an unused but open box feedback destroyer. $50 is what he is asking. Good price?

Again, wish I could make it to the party. I would bring my quad RLp18's too if I could.

Man ,I know how you feel.......it's a little quiet here on the West Coast (Tacoma, Washington area).

I am a big WKU fan. I have been to MTSU to watch the Sun Belt tournament a couple of times.

Official Date set for April 18th. Will discuss starting time, but I'm always up early so whenever people want to show up will probably be fine. I'm also looking for people who are definite on attending and I'll start a list of who's coming and what they're bringing. Will post that on the first post of the thread and will PM those who are coming with my address and telephone #. Be sure to post early because I am going to limit the amount of attendees.

Look forward to hearing from everyone coming.

Notre Dame is my team of all teams for football, but MTSU is a close second. My room has a mix of ND-MT-Titans stuff.

WKU got one of Notre Dame's backup QB's a couple years back. Think he was a JR or SR this past year. David Wolke. He was was listed as living about 10 minutes from my place in Smyrna. He also lived in MT Juliet where I went to high school. They have the state high school tournament going on there now. Makes traffic by the college horrible.

It looks like a REALLY expensive pro sub. Check it out here.
For the pro market it looks pretty nice. Wonder about it's cost/performance ratio.

I'll be glad to ship it in and you guys can eval it. I just need some $help$ with shipping.

Put me down for the 18th. Ricci, You will probably be driving right thru Glasgow. Do you want to meet up? Do you want me to bring the ED A7S-450 (1300 watt amp) or the 12" DIY Shiva? Or neither? I can bring the Nady XA100 (bridged 1,100 watts @ 4 ohm) if needed. Just let me know.

I would imagine it wouldn't be that expensive to ship. I can get a CRT projector shipped from canada for ~$250. This would probably be cheaper. Problem would be getting it without a doubt in time.

While I'd love to have that sub here to have a listen, I don't want to have people feeling like they need to pitch in with shipping something like that. If someone wants to, I have no problem with it, but I know I won't have the extra cash for something like that. Times are tight and I got cables and BBQ fixin's to purchase.

Good deal. I'll pencil you in and send you PM with info. I'd like to hear that ED. Haven't heard a shiva either. Extra amps I'm sure wouldn't hurt to have here. Don't know if you two and Ricci will hook up or not, but he's bringing a lot of stuff I think. Space may be an issue for transport.

What would people like to see if I was to send something down. Ricci, I know you were interested in the TD18H+ and if Kyle is going to send one of the WorX subs, I think a comparison between them would be quite interesting. I'll also have a small 18" cube with an AV12H and pair of passives that wouldn't be too bad to ship on the same pallet.

I have no comment. I'll leave to that Ricci probably. He's heard your stuff and can probably make a better decision than me. I'm sure any of your offerings will be enjoyed.

Here's a couple pics of the room. I can tell I need to clean the lens on this particular POS model of camera.

Kyle, get a shipping quote and post up the damage. I'd be willing to put up some scratch but we'd need a few others help as well. I'm guessing like $160 one way here. No need to factor in the return shipping because I'll just take it home with me.

Only deal with that is I'll be driving down Friday afternoon with my friend Chris and we'll not be returning home until Sunday. We have friends in the area (The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza) and we'll be stayin at their place to save on hotel costs. I could drive down and back all in one day but with draggin all of the equipment along I'd rather get started early the 18th and make the most out of it. Plus I wouldn't be able to fit your sub in the vehicle. Especially since I'll have that Worx sub too.

BTW I vote for the Shiva sub, since Brandon has a 190v2 based sub already.

Heck I don't know man. A Worx vs TD18 showdown would be legendary stuff. A couple of people had mentioned bringing AV15 subs, but no one has committed yet. If one of them comes through then that'd be great.

So ricci I guess I can throw you down in the definitely coming category. Will PM you after I get my kids off to school.
Yep. Barring something crazy coming up I'll be there. You don't happen to have a 220v line handy in there do you?

I'm going to bring:
Crest 8002 amp
Crown CE4000 (possible if needed I guess)
XXX 18
LMS 18
Laptop REW

I'm going to go ahead and bring my 10cu ft sealed test box for the XXX and LMS. I can just make a new baffle for the LMS driver. Otherwise I'd have to bring a box for each driver which will take up more room.

I don't have a 220 line in the room, but the room is right next to my laundry room. If needs be we could unhook the dryer I guess and run something into the room.

That's with the enclosure is a good idea. I wish I had a wealth of enclosures laying around but I don't.

Hoping the weather is better than it was this weekend. Ground will be soaked for a week with all this rain we got.

Picked up a new 100 ft extension cord thanks to my dog eating my other one. I believe that will be long enough to do some outside testing.

Ricci, I'm gonna steal your list of subs from HT shack and throw that into the first post of the thread on both forums. We'll add from there when others confirm.
I will bring the Shiva-X. I currently do not have a high pass for it. Does anybody that is coming to the GTG have something that can be set to 17Hz?

I'm running without a HPF right now. If no one does have filtering available we'll steer clear of anything that's really low. We won't throw WOTW at reference levels at it.

if you can send one, then i'd vote for the td18h+ as this will probably be very different from all other subs in the mix. in a big, ported box tuned to 22-24hz. it will probably be the mid-bass king of this show.

if you can send two, then i'd throw in the biggest, baddest-a$$, bottom-feeder that you have.

as a total oddball entry, you could always shoot a pair of dual td15m's, tuned to 22-24hz as a demonstration of how you can get your sub-bass, bass and mids all in one package. this setup would probably shock lots of the "you need a big heavy bass driver to get deep bass" folks.

anyway, glad to see that you are participating john j.!
brandon, thanks for pulling this together. if you haven't, you may want to coordinate with other gtg hosts in order to put together a strict schedule, because everything always takes twice as long as planned in practice. also, have a plan b for everything in your plan a. can't wait to here how this goes. good luck!

I can bring my Rane PE-17 for a HPF. It's only a 12db octave roll off but it can adjust all the way from 40khz down to 10hz.
