LMAO! @#$%ing hilarious!
Yes. A very fun episode last night IMO. That big cat was gorgeous.
If that beautiful cat wanted to eat them, they'd have been eaten. That said, I enjoyed the show. Very funny. You can cuff me to her anytime.
I loved when he was behind her driving his...uh.. hips into her's while they both grunted. It was like soft porn without the stupid music.

This episode took a turn in a direction I was not expecting in a good way. I misdirection with the tiger was a really nice plot twist.

I'd love to see a behind the scenes/ blooper of that episode. They had to have something! lol

Good episode, didn't really feel all that special for a premiere though. Did Nathan put on weight? Jaime Ray Newman is pretty hot.
I'm not sure how I feel about the direction. Kinda Burn Noticey and well that direction is bit old now.

In what way was it a premiere? They were just off over the holidays, like everyone.

Seems as any 'spark' between the two leads has disappeared again.

Oh, it's still there. They might have dialed it back just a bit. Gotta keep that tension going. There's more of it in this week's episode (watched the screener, last night). It's a fun romp with a lot of it set in 1947 and, for spark watchers..

Jerry: Hey, what's the story? I hear you're doing my move.

David: What move?

Jerry: What move? *My* move. The one I told you about. You used it on Elaine.

David: You're move? What, are you kidding? I was doing that before I knew
you. All you told me about was the ending.

Jerry: The ending is the whole thing. Without the ending, it's nothing. You had *nothing*.

David: Oh, that ending was *so* obvious. I would have figured it out anyway. I didn't need you to tell me that stupid twist.

Jerry: Swirl.

David: Whatever. I don't even do it.

Jerry: Oh, yeah, I know. You do the *pinch*.

David: Yeah, that's right.

Jerry: You can't come up with your own stuff , so you *steal* other peoples? You're nothing but a hack.

David: Are you through, 'cuz, uh, I gotta get back to work.

Jerry: Well, I'll tell you what I'll do, you know. If you wanna do it out of town...okay. But not in the city.

I hope I'm wrong, but...

when the writers resort to doing "period pieces" in a contemporary show, it's often a tacit admission that they are out of ideas for doing the show in it's regular setting.

And when writers feel stale and try to freshen up the show, that's how bad decisions like having Fonzi go waterskiing and trying to jump a shark happen.

With this development, plus Fillion gaining so much weight, they're in danger of needing to rename of the show from "Castle" to "Cannon" [is this reference too old for anyone to get the joke?] and with Katic seeming to be bored with this season, I' afraid we're seeing the show start to unravel.

Good point, though - with Castle being an author - this one kinda fits. Not a stretch of the imagination to see him do this visualization. Surprised it hasn't happened.

I also wondered if it's "fantasy sequence week" with Grey's Anatomy doing a way-more-contrived fantasy flash.

And, yeah, I got the "Cannon" reference. What always made my dad laugh in that show was the way William Conrad shot a gun. The barrel wiggled all over the place. And he "pushed" the gun when he fired it as if to make the bullet go faster. Or so my dad says. I was too young to remember. Yeah, that's right. Too young. Sticking to my story.

He's stress-eating due to the longstanding unresolved relationship issues between them.

Huh? Where have you been? You make it sound as if Castle has been gone for ages. It hasn't.

Good episode on tonight and then a good two-parter the next two weeks.

Then another new episode, bound to be good, after that.

Just checked the ABC publicity site we use and it still shows "Blue Butterfly" scheduled to air tonight.

Interesting episode. It was a nice change of pace form the usual. I like Ryan as an Irishman/not an Irishman.
Noticed that they messed up the car fire. The photo showed that the whole car was destroyed by fire. Gas was seen being poured all over the car, except for the seating area. Yep, the last shot shows the seating area is in flames, yet the gas that is covering the rest of the car isn't in flames, even though the match was tossed on the hood.

Oops!

Other than that, loved the episode.

Becket looked great in the 40 glamor garb, the clothes did nothing for the men back then but cover up Fillion's massive weight gain.

Really enjoyed the show last night. I liked the mixing of the current crime investigation with the "Diary brought to life" 1940's scenes. Filion had some very funny lines: "why am I still doing narration" and when he kept asking Ryan to say Boy-O. And finally a real kiss even it was in the imaginary scenario. I had to really before I realized that "Older Joe" was Chad Everett. He almost sounded like Clint Eastwood. How about Molly Quinn all grown up in the diary sequences? All in all, one one of the more enjoyable episodes.

Forgot to post. Anyway, Loved the last episode (as stated above). One of the better episodes in a long time. Castle did a much better job at a New York 40's accent (I think that place and period) than Kate. lol
post #923 of 1491
I love both noir fiction and film noir so it should come as no surprise that I loved this week's Castle episode. The '40s versions of Castle and Beckett could have stepped right out of the pages of Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett. At any moment I expected Castle to say, "Here's looking at you, kid." and Becket to say, "If you want anything, just whistle." The closing line in the episode, "It's the stuff dreams are made of" made me smile. It was originally Shakespeare's line, of course but was added to The Maltese Falcon at Humphrey Bogart's suggestion. Nice, nice stuff!

Big change from last week's show. I'm fine with stretching believability for shows like this, but this one pushed me a bit too far.

How many times do Castle and Beckett have to have the bad guys get the drop on them? Why did the CIA mug the two and risk a potentially deadly gunfight instead of just showing some ID and having a talk? After finding the professor, our super smart detective doens't call for backup, doesn't call the CIA, an ddoesn't take him somewhere safe but rather drives alone to a warehouse in the middle of nowhere? Argh.
It was a bit "Chuck Amateur Hr." for the CIA stuff, but the humor was good.
I dunno what was worse the car in the ocean bit or the "Chuck Amateur Hr" twists...
"it was a mistake to sleep with Rick". With that, the show has bought Becket another season or two of, "I love him but will never give in to my feelings" behavior.

Yeah the 2nd half of that two-parter was rife with horrible writing. From the car in the water scene (just how deep is the river?) to the twist at the end. Ugh. Let's forget this episode and move on.

Aside from the car in the river part, I thought this week was better than part 1 by a long shot.

I didn't see the twist at the end as much of a twist really, for some reason I saw that coming a mile away.

The car in the water was a bit much, but the rest was well above average since it dealt with the two stars. I especially liked the looks their assistants gave Becket & Castle when the Jennifer Beals was describing their past relationship.
