I'd like

1) to see a pic of an entirely black screen with the lights out.
2) you to hook up a game console and see how bad lag/phosphor trails are

Also more hi-res shots of the elusive beast in the wild!

Mine should be here any where from a week to a month.. my vendor is pretty flaky. I hope the VGA port is worth it as I'm very interested in hooking my computer to it. I've been told you can just use a DVI to HDMI converter but I don't see how you'd get audio that way. If the VGA connection is crappy then at least we have the option of viewing movies off of an SD card, which is another advantage the G has over the S.

Viera really doesn't look that hot. I was hoping for just some basic web browser, but instead its native clients for only 4 sites, and only Amazon video on demand looks useful, I mean what are you going to watch from youtube on your tv? Netflix (or hulu) would be incredible but doubtful that will happen without a firmware update.

For what it's worth, I saw an S1 this afternoon. It was on ESPN which had some scrolling white text and, unlike the previous year's models, I couldn't see any yellow smear behind it. I usually notice the trails quite easily but on the S1 I couldn't see them even when I was actively looking for them.

As for the lag, Panasonic has produced some of the lowest lag sets in the past few years. If you look at some threads for the older models there are tests showing that even the worst case signal scenario of 480i only results in 20-30ms of delay which is pretty much the best case scenario for a fixed pixel display since it has to wait to receive two frames (at 16ms intervals) and deinterlace them before displaying the complete output frame.

did you compare the sets side by side, or at least as close to it that the set up in store would allow? or are you going from memory.

From memory, but every time I saw that ESPN white scrolling text on a PZ8x model I didn't even have to do more then glance at it to see a yellow smear behind it. The text on the S1 was clean and clear even when I looked up close.

As I stated, take it for what it's worth. The text wasn't scrolling terribly fast (lest it be illegible) so the effect might still rear it's head when dealing with faster motion in a game. In any case, it's definitely been improved.

I was at BB this evening. They are tearing down the TV wall to put new models up, but the salesperson said they do not even have the g10 at the distribution center yet. I want to see this thing in person, even if it is in BB, since they took my Tweeter away.

My last HDTV was a Vizio VX37L. The 46-G10 should be my next. Am I going to be blown away by the difference going from a budget lcd to a high-end plasma? Har har har.

In the S1 owner's thread, the OP stated he did see green trails while playing Call of Duty: WaW.

Anyways, the blacks look fantastic, and i'm guessing the Color is the same as the 800u when on THX mode. But how is the motion, especially when compared to CRT? not to mention doesn't it give off a brighter image when compared to your typical plasma?

I just compared the Joker shot from both this G10 and the calibrated 800u in the Samsung vs. Panasonic thread, and it just proved how imperative, at least for me, a professional calibration is. When I saw how a last generation television can outclass a current generation one by that wide a margin, I was baffled.

That being said, I am eagerly awaiting the pictures of this calibrated G10.

Do you find that the THX mode is brighter on the new G10 than on the Z800 series?

Looking good Chris! Would you say the blacks are deep enough to melt into the bezel during ala Pioneer? Also how bright can THX mode get? Can it be setup comfortably for dayviewing?

My biggest hang up is if the tv dies and I'm force to get an exchange in 2 years I doubt I'll be able to get a 61" lcd of plasma for the $1600 or so this tv is going to cost me now. I'ld hate to go down to a smaller size tv.

The adjustability on the 2008's left something to be desired(excepting the 850). How is the adjustability on the S or G. I saw that the X was minimal?

The black at the bezel line is pretty impressive indeed. I am not to keen on the red LED though. Is it that obvious in RL? A little electrical tape should remedy that! lol

How many fans are build into the new models?
Are they more quiet than the old models (PZ800/850)?

The adjustability of the G10 appears to be just like on the S1 and X1. The PZ850's extended picture adjustments are located in it's "Pro Setting" sub-menu, but the G10, S1, and X1 don't have any such Pro Setting sub-menu. Neither does the PZ800U. Since the V10 will be replacing the PZ850U, i presume it will have the extended Pro Settings menu. Hmmm, now i'm wondering if the 46G15 will have any Pro Settings, that would be nice.

The fans on the PZ800U/PZ850U are already silent, so i doubt the new models will be any quieter

In the european G10 version, the manual mentions extended picture adjustments like gamma and others when in normal/cinema mode, in the menu.

In the US G10 manual, there is no normal or cinema setting, or any mention of gamma adjustments. Looks like we get a locked THX mode, while the Europeans get extended picture adjustments.

I haven't tried Game Mode, do you think that will help?
